BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER reboot info now revealed

The new series will be a complete reboot of the continuity from the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series. Taking an “Ultimate Marvel” kind of approach, the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic will still feature Buffy and the Scoobies that fans know and love but will update her story for the modern era.

The press release:

“This is the Buffy Summers you know, who wants what every average teenager wants: friends at her new school, decent grades, and to escape her imposed destiny as the next in a long line of vampire slayers tasked with defeating the forces of evil. But the Slayer’s world looks a lot more like the one outside your window, as this new series brings her into a new era with new challenges, new friends…and a few enemies you might already recognize. The more things change, the more they stay the same, as the Gang – Giles, Willow, Xander, Cordelia and more – faces brand new Big Bads, and a threat lurking beneath the perfectly manicured exterior of Sunnydale High, confirming what every teenager has always known: high school truly is hell.

Long time fans of the HORROR REPORT may recall the early 2000s when we had a section of this website wholely dedicated to BUFFY authored by mysterious writer at the time "Mr. Benson." whose true identity was never even revealed to us let alone readers..

Yesterday's disaster is today's solar park

On Friday Ukraine launched photovoltaic panels at the former Chernobyl power plant ..
A new history being built at the park that caused so much chaos..

The 1 million-euro ($1.2-million), one-megawatt plant is located just a hundred metres (yards) from a giant metal dome sealing the remains of the the nuclear power plant which suffered a catastrophic meltdown in 1986.

"Today we are connecting the station to the power system of Ukraine," Yevgen Varyagin, the head of Solar Chernobyl, a Ukrainian-German company behind the project, said at the launch ceremony.

At 1:23 a.m. on April 26 1986, when extremely hot nuclear fuel rods were lowered into cooling water at the nuclear plant, an immense amount of steam was created, which — because of the RBMK reactors' design flaws — created more reactivity in the nuclear core of reactor number 4. The resultant power surge caused an immense explosion that detached the 1,000-ton plate covering the reactor core, releasing radiation into the atmosphere and cutting off the flow of coolant into the reactor. A few seconds later, a second explosion of even greater power than the first blew the reactor building apart and spewed burning graphite and other parts of the reactor core around the plant, starting a number of intense fires around the damaged reactor and reactor number 3, which was still operating at the time of the explosions.

The explosions killed two plant workers, who were the first of several workers to die within hours of the accident. For the next several days, as emergency crews tried desperately to contain the fires and radiation leaks, the death toll climbed as plant workers succumbed to acute radiation sickness.
The government covered up the event with impunity..

Today it's reborn.

A WEEKEND UPDATE..

A team of scientists has figured out a way to connect the brains of three individuals and enable them to share their thoughts. The individuals successfully completed a game of Tetris this way by communicating “telepathically.”.. More from the research paper listed on the Cornell University Library..

Your "private" Facebook messages are now in the hands of hackers

OVER THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS, NUMEROUS FACEBOOK USERS HAVE POSTED MESSAGES STATING THAT THEIR ACCOUNTS SEEMINGLY ARE HACKED.. THAT ODD MESSAGES ARE BEING SENT, AND THAT WEIRD FRIEND REQUESTS ARE INCOMING.

No surprise on the INTERNETS.. the hacking has been known about for days.  It has only been over the past 24 hours of time that the public has been made aware more of the seriousness of what may be in store for users....

From CNN:
On Sunday, September 16, engineers at Facebook detected some unusual activity on the social media platform's networks. It was an attack, the biggest security breach in Facebook's history. And it would take the company 11 more days to stop it.
Now, almost a week since the public was first told of the attack, we still barely know anything about what happened.
We don't know who the hackers were, or what they were looking for. We don't know whether they were targeting particular people in certain countries. We don't know how long they had access to users' information. And we don't know what, if anything, they took.
What we do know is that for at least 50 million users, the hackers could have seen everything. They could have logged in as if they were those users, and then accessed years of those users' activity history on the platform — including their private messages

The film has been hit by poor reviews.. but at least so far they don't seem to matter in a horror-starved October opening box office...

Venom‘s haul, drawn from roughly 3,500 theaters across North America, is the top October number for preview screenings in box office history. It was followed by the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper musical drama A Star Is Born, which brought in $4.6 million between showings from Tuesday to Thursday.

ODDITIES REPORTED TO PHONES AFTER PRESIDENTIAL ALERT TEXT

Northwest’s cell networks disrupted after ‘presidential alert’ text »

For several hours Wednesday, subscribers with several networks, notably AT&T and T-Mobile, reported being unable to download data or use their apps soon after the text alert, which was sent at 11:18 a.m. Pacific Time.

“The presidential text alert went out and after that I lost all internet, Gmail, apps — everything stopped working,” said Sarah Mendivel, a medical researcher at Seattle Children’s Hospital. When Mendivel finally got through to AT&T, she was told “they didn’t know what it was,” she said in a phone interview Wednesday afternoon.
Soon after the outage, both T-Mobile and AT&T reported being aware of the outages but did not know why they had occurred or when service would be fully restored, according to online news accounts. But by 5:30, AT&T was reporting the problem had been addressed.

AT&T said the presidential alert had nothing at all to do with the problems..

A weird bigfoot encounter for your discernment

This video is not new, but it is interesting nonetheless.

It was uploaded to Youtube in 2016 and, according to the headline, took place on Christmas of 2014"

The description: A sasquatch walks around the house and yard. The dog goes after the bigfoot but runs back inside. After the animal leaves the property the family goes inside slightly frightened.

KANYE ONLY IS YE

Saturday Night Live's staleness was on full display during its opening season premiere last night.. hackneyed jokes. Tired humor.. nothing creative or inventive, just the expected..

Until KANYE WEST, now the artist formerly known as Kanye, performed. Meet YE.

REPORTING FROM THE DAILY BEAST:

Following his performance of “Ghost Town” during the 44th season premiere of Saturday Night Live, Kanye West, sporting a red Make America Great Again hatin support of President Donald Trump, went on one of his typical rants.
The bizarre lecture occurred off-air, after his performance, where he was joined by Kid Cudi and 070 Shake, and was cut for time—but comedian Chris Rock, who was in the audience at Studio 8H in New York City, was able to capture part of it on his Instagram.

Car explosion in Allentown PA

The Allentown PA MORNING CALL is reporting this late night Saturday night massacre in the city:

A car explosion Saturday night on Turner Street in center city Allentown resulted in multiple fatalities, according to Allentown police.
Assistant Chief Gail Struss said authorities do not know how many died.
The explosion happened around 9:30 p.m. on the block between Seventh and Eighth streets. Along with city police, investigators from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the scene. Around midnight, a team of investigators worked around the burnt skeleton of the car
The explosion reverberated beyond the block. It shook The Morning Call building, which is about a block and a half from the scene. And on Facebook, people from other parts of the Allentown and even outside the city’s borders said they heard or felt the boom.

There was a very graphic video of the explosion being widely shared on social media in Pennsylvania Saturday night into Sunday morning that showcased the fiery car along with body parts and pieces of flesh sprinkled throughout the city streets... The HORROR REPORT has been sent the video and decided now to broadcast it..

The scene was crowded with emergency crews and investigators including Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim, the Allentown Fire Department Bomb Squad and city paramedics. A UGI truck was on the scene, though a worker said it was a precautionary measure..

A tamer photo was being spread on the news sites and stations:

Indonesia's disaster agency's Sutopo Purwo Nugroho withdrew an earlier warning to residents of a tsunami..

THREE hours later Indonesia's geophysics agency said there had been one, and hundreds have now died...

The cities of Palu and Donggala were struck by 10ft waves which demolished houses and swept away cars.

Aerial view of the damage to homes and shipping containers on the coast of Palu city. According to Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) the death toll from the Sulawesi earthquake and tsunami has reached 384 but the number might be keep rising

DAILY MAIL:

Many of those killed in Palu were swept away by giant waves more than 10ft high as they played on the beach in the scenic tourist town.
The number of casualties was no doubt increased by the fact that hundreds of people had descended on Palu's beach for a festival to celebrate the city's anniversary, due to start Friday night.
'When the (tsunami) threat arose yesterday, people were still doing their activities on the beach and did not immediately run and they became victims,' Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of Indonesia's disaster mitigation agency BNPB said in news briefing in Jakarta.
