Valerie Reyes: Tragic murder mystery after her body is found in a red suitcase along a highway

Prayers and solemn thoughts go to the family of Valerie Reyes.. all of the morbid and macabre details being showcased through mainstream media must be destroying their mourning and healing.. May God grant this crime to be solved..

The reddish-orange suitcase containing Reyes' body was discovered by highway workers in Greenwich around 8.15am Tuesday, one week after the 24-year-old was last seen on January 29

In the mean time, the morbid details revealed on CNN and other various news networks tonight..

Days before her body was found inside a suitcase near a Connecticut road, Valerie Reyes called her mother terrified someone would kill her.
"She was just really scared, very frightened," her mother, Norma Sanchez, told CNN affiliate WABC.
The 24-year-old had been living in a basement apartment in New Rochelle, New York, for some time but had recently grown anxious and even felt paranoid of being alone there.
"I'm afraid someone is going to murder me," Reyes told her mother.
But it's unclear why Reyes was afraid. Sanchez said her daughter didn't mention whether she was scared of anyone in particular.
Tuesday, a group of highway workers found Reyes' body stuffed into a red suitcase in the affluent town of Greenwich, Connecticut --- about 14 miles from her apartment.
Reyes went missing on January 29 2019..  Flyers were placed around New York City and friends and family pleaded with people on social media to help find her..

A week later highway workers doing routine work found her body in a red suitcase..

The bag was about 15 to 20 feet off the shoulder of a road in a quiet neighborhood. When they opened the bag, they found a woman with her hands and feet bound, authorities said.

Mystery abounds when reading details of a the last chilling call Reyes' now heartbroken mother had with her the night before she went missing..

Norma Sanchez revealed her daughter battled depression and anxiety, but she became incredibly paranoid shortly before her disappearance.

'She was very scared, very frightened,' Sanchez told The Journal.

'She didn't mention anything or no one specific. She just said, 'I'm scared. I'm paranoid, mommy. I'm getting anxiety attacks'.

'She was having a hard time talking.' Her daughter refused to specify why she felt the way she did..

The Barnes & Noble store clerk had broken up with her boyfriend five days earlier, according to Sanchez.   'I asked her why do you feel this way? Was there someone at your house?'  She asked about her daughter's ex-boyfriend but still Reyes told her mother 'no, it wasn't him'.

Reyes did however reveal that she didn't feel safe alone in her apartment, and expressed her concern at the murders of young women in the state.

'I'm worried someone is going to murder me,' Reyes then allegedly blurted out.

The next day she failed to show up for work in Scarsdale.

Her family hired a private detective to locate her whereabouts, who managed to track her to a Manhattan ATM at 2am.  The 24-year-old's card was also used that morning at a different ATM, though it isn't yet clear whether she used the card or someone else.

Eight days later police found the suitcase with her body..

HBO IS NOT GOING TO EDIT 'LEAVING NEVERLAND'

Casey Bloys of HBO was forced to speak out about rumors that the cable network was going to edit the Michael Jackson documentary LEAVING NEVERLAND..

The WRAP reporting:
“There is no hesitation, there are no plans to not air it,” Bloys told TheWrap this afternoon.

MORE WRAP RAP:

“All I ask of this is that people watch it and judge for themselves,” Bloys said of the film. “I think you will see a very powerful, very moving, disturbing documentary. Once people see it, they can decide for themselves.”

“We’re not dealing with any legal issues or concerns,” Bloys answered when we asked about such possible ramifications. “It’s going to air and we have not edited it.”
And, yes, the documentary has passed muster with Bloys’ legal department.

“We have a very, very experienced legal team,” he told us. “This has been vetted.”

“Leaving Neverland” will premiere on Sunday, March 3, as HBO announced

NOSTALGIA IS BACK! HE-MAN BRAND WILL MAKE ITS WAY TO NETFLIX THANKS TO DOCUMENTARY TITLED 'POWER OF GRAYSKULL'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a documentary about the entire He-Man brand will make its North American debut thanks to High Octane Pictures.

The film, titled Power of Grayskull: The Definitive History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, was directed by Randall Lobb (Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Robert McCallum (Nintendo Quest: The Most Unofficial and Unauthorized Nintendo Documentary Ever!).

"The Masters of the Universe brand is bigger than ever – as this very solid documentary reminds us – and we’re excited for North American audiences to see it," Galen Christy, High Octane president, told THR. "This is both an insightful and very entertaining film that’ll appeal to fans and non-fans of Masters."
The documentary includes in-depth interviews with artists, actors, and fans. Even Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella make appearances to talk about their roles in the live-action (and very poorly received) Masters of the Universe movie from 1987; Lundgren played He-Man and Langella played Skeletor.
High Octane will also be in charge of courting foreign buyers at the European Film Market, which kicks off today in Berlin and runs through February 15.

REVENGE OF THE BILLIONAIRE BEZOS: SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL

Scandal among the billionaires!! Yellow journalism! Scathing tabloids! Politics and surveillance! All the rage among the elite..

This week Jeff Bezos wrote an article for Medium that the National Enquirer had private messages and emails being sent to him demanding that his Washington POST stops investigating ties between the tabloid and Saudi Arabia. If they don't, executives for the mostly grocery store rag stated, they would released provocative images of Bezos' penis..

There has been a multiple set of developments since Bezos went public about David Pecker from the American Media Inc (Pecker is the real name.. ) ..

A number of people online went after the Enquirer, especially given its past ties to supporting Donald Trump. Some equated the ransom attempt on Bezos as a political move since the billionaire bought the Washington POST--a paper that has been critical of Trump since he became president..

Others felt plain bad for Bezos.. Yes he is in an elite class to himself, but treatment like that, many said, is not deserved.. and some rallied behind him just as did they did to Hulk Hogan back when he forced GAWKER into the corner..

Since that development, more level headed people have wondered if we are just having sympathy for the devil.

According to Medium, they are not commenting on whether Bezos violated their terms of service or rules by publishing the content on their platform. BUT they admonished that he will NOT be paid for it.. I am sure non payment on that blog post will be a critical hit to his wallet. (sarcasm on that of course) ..

And finally, Glenn Greenwald for THE INTERCEPT labeled Amazon Bezos as a "notorious labor abuser" and a hypocrite: Greenwald contends that as Bezos complains of the invasion of his privacy, he is busy building a surveillance state that everyone else is going to have to contend with for the rest of our digital humanity.  Among the points made by Greenwald:

That’s because Amazon, the company that has made Bezos the planet’s richest human being, is a critical partner for the U.S. Government in building an ever-more invasive, militarized and sprawling surveillance state. Indeed, one of the largest components of Amazon’s business, and thus one of the most important sources of Bezos’ vast wealth and power, is working with the Pentagon and the NSA to empower the U.S. Government with more potent and more sophisticated weapons, including surveillance weapons.
In December, 2017, Amazon boasted that it had perfected new face-recognition software for crowds, which it called Rekognition. It explained that the product is intended, in large part, for use by governments and police forces around the world. The ACLU quickly warned that the product is “dangerous” and that Amazon “is actively helping governments deploy it.”

Experts don't buy eye witness accounts of Bigfoot in Utah

No shock that experts aren't buying it.. but what are they experts in?

This report from WGN9

Whether Bigfoot is real or not is more a question of faith than science. Case in point, the latest sighting in Provo, Utah. The incident happened earlier this month, and of course, there is video.
"Seriously, look how big it is. I don't think it is a human. I think it's a Sasquatch," a Provo man said.
It was a clear January morning in the foothills of Northeast Provo when a group of guys saw a figure on the mountain that looked like something they've never seen before.
"You can’t just see something that’s maybe a once-in-a-century discovery and go do your nine-to-five job. You got to go look for fur, or footprints, or some kind of evidence," Austin Craig, who captured the moment on video, said.
The camera was rolling as Austin took to the mountain with a buddy on a search for the elusive Bigfoot.
"That is exactly where I saw the 'Sasquatch,' and you guys put together even aren’t even as close to as wide or as tall as it was," the Provo man in the video said.
Their findings were inconclusive.
"Was it a bear? Maybe. That’s plausible. Was it a person? Also plausible," Craig said. "Was it something else? I think that’s also possible. Who knows?"
Utah has had its fair share of Bigfoot sightings over the years. It seems most of them are in Utah County.
We spoke with an expert from Utah's Natural History Museum who says, you can believe in it or not, but the science simply isn’t there.
"What’s the likelihood that there are big animals that have gone undetected by scientists and by trained observers?" Dr. Eric Rickart, Curator of Vertebrate Zoology at Utah's Museum of Natural History, said.

The pig eat pig year

Welcome to the year of the pig..

Pig is the twelfth in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac sign. The Years of the Piginclude 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031, 2043... Pig is not thought to be a smart animal in China. It likes sleeping and eating and becomes fat. Thus it usually features laziness and clumsiness.

We are told that people born in the Year of the Pig will welcome favorable fortune, especially in wealth and love life...

But we are also told that while pig people are self reliant and honest, possible dark sides the Pig people are stubbornness, naive, over-reliant, self-indulgent, easy to anger and materialistic. They are sometimes regarded as being lazy...

In China red and gold are considered lucky colors since they are believed to convey happiness and prosperity.. you can give red envelopes full of money to your family members to celebrate the pig year..

New SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK trailers unleashed!

Perhaps the high point for an extremely boring Super Bowl was trailers dropping for this years anticipated horror story..

Guillermo del Toro released the third and final teaser for the forthcoming adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The newest teasers feature a look at the Pale Lady and a Red Spot.

The film is set to open August 19..

More..

The first two teasers of the movie directed by André Øvredal feature Big Toe and the Jangly Man.

André Øvredal is directing the movie about a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in a small town. Many will remember that the film will be based on Alvin Schwartz’s YA novel series..

That series was an important part of millions of people’s lives in the 1980s when some schools even had the books listed as contraband that would be hidden and tucked away behind others or on the ‘black market’ of reading lists in book bags and hallways ..

Plane crash into California neighborhood home leaves 5 dead

Heartfelt sadness goes to the victims of this matter..

The twin-engine plane came apart and caught fire mid-flight, witnesses told local media, before crashing in Yorba Linda, a suburb of Los Angeles.

The flight went awry just minutes after taking off from a local airport, some 20 miles (32km) south-east of the city.

The victims have not yet been named. Fire officials say two people were treated in hospital for burns.

Local residents described a shrill whistling sound before an explosion set the two-storey home on fire at 13:45 (21:45 GMT) on Sunday.

The pilot was the Cessna 414A's only occupant, and a source told the Los Angeles Times the man had flown frequently out of the Fullerton Municipal Airport.

Those killed in the home were two males and two females, Orange County officials said at a news conference..

Various websites are showcasing both images and video of the tragic event..

For me, there was a little twist of creepiness involved as well..

If anyone else out there is a fan of the movie DONNIE DARKO from 2001, you may recall the scene when a small plane engine crashes down onto the house.. there is more than that, like Frank the rabbit and the parallel universe issue..

One particular image of the scene from the CALI crash had me recalling the scene from DONNIE DARKO.. A chilling likness..

The first image was the scene from California Sunday..The next is the film DONNIE DARKO..

"And why do people react that way? Why when two men have come forward saying they were sexually abused as a child, why do we want to shame them? Why do we want to shut them down? Why do we want to silence them? Why do we want to threaten them? I don’t understand.”

Rami Malek speaks out about the allegations of sexual abuse against Bryan Singer

Rami Malek has spoken about the allegations of sexual abuse against Bryan Singer, who directed Malek's Oscar-nominated new film "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Singer was fired from the film, which stars Malek as Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the iconic rock group Queen. In a recent sit-down at the Arlington Theatre for the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Malek was hesitant to speak out against the director, but emphasized the importance of valuing victims' stories, Vanity Fair reports.
“I've sat here and talked about how everyone deserves a voice and anyone who wants to talk about what happened with Bryan deserves to have their voice heard," he said. "In my situation with Bryan, it was not pleasant, not at all. And that's about what I can say about it at this point.” He did not elaborate.

“It's awful, it's remarkable that this happens,” Malek said of Singer's alleged crimes. “I can appreciate so much what they've been through and how difficult this must be for them. In the light of the #MeToo era that this somehow seems to exist after that, it's a horrible thing.”

“My heart goes out to anyone who has to live through anything like what I've heard and what is out there,” he continued.

Jordan Peele's new US trailer revealed: A new nightmare

WE first saw the trailer for Jordan Peele's US before the movie GLASS...

The film looks very Peele.. very creative, amazing.. new and fresh..

The trailer is frightening and gives glimpse to a newfound moment in horror with new faces,  new voices, and new storylines...

It reads a bit like a TWILIGHT ZONE premise.. a family is facing itself, facing its own fears, and its own anxieties.. The concept is brilliant, if you ask the HORROR REPORTER, and the trailer is amazing..

The newest trailer is now revealed..
A new nightmare. Welcome to r/monkeypawproductions. from r/MonkeypawProductions

GLASS cuts through competition for third weekend in a row! Victory for #Shyalaman

Maureen Lenker writes this for EW:

Glass is still slicing through its competitors to hold onto the top spot at the box office.
The M. Night Shyamalan thriller tops the box office for the third week running with an estimated $9.5 million in ticket sales at 3,665 theaters in the U.S. and Canada from Friday through Sunday, bringing its North American total to $88.7 million. Globally, it’s brought in an estimated $199 million. STX Films’ The Upside also holds onto its momentum in its fourth weekend, coming in second with $8.6 million across 3,568 theaters, while the only nationwide new release Miss Bala takes the third place slot with an estimated $6.7 million across 2,203 theaters.
The overall weekend take paints a dismal picture amounting to the worst Super Bowl weekend at the movies since 2000. It’s a rare weekend where every film failed to pass the $10 million mark. Inclimate weather across the United States likely contributed to the steep decline in movie-going.
The HORROR REPORT can attest to the fact that GLASS is a divisive and amazingly imaginative and very M NIGHT SHYAMALAN movie.. It's filled with newfound ways to showcase filmography.. it is coupled with dialogue, twist endings, re-twist endings, and fantastic acting from the main characters in the film.. It is also something that will be debated in the UNBREAKABLE fan circles for years to come.

Personally we loved GLASS for what it was, a culmination of 20 years of comic book heroism... As a stand alone movie, it was bad.. when taken into the context of previous films it was a finale worth seeing..

And yes, the main point of the EW article is the low SUPER BOWL box office numbers.. but people are still seeing GLASS.. some of them repeatedly..

FINAL BOX OFFICE TALLY..

1. Glass — $9.5 million2. The Upside — $8.6 million
3. Miss Bala — $6.7 million
4. Aquaman— $4.8 million
5. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse — $4.4 million
6. Green Book — $4.3 million
7. Kid Who Would Be King — $4.2 million
8. A Dog’s Way Home — $3.5 million
9. Escape Room — $2.9 million
10. They Shall Not Grow Old — $2.4 million

The Holocaust paradox

This article needs to be read and imprinted in minds.. the HOLOCAUST was a period of hell for humanity.. but those who survived went on to live very long lives..

Perhaps this was the message from a higher power.. perhaps the intention of that higher power was to give more time to those who survived to tell their story and how it happened.. and could always happen again..

PETER ORSZAG writes in BLOOMBERG

Sunday was Holocaust Remembrance Day, causing me to think about an assertion I heard from an elementary school teacher. She said that even those who survived the Holocaust were so debilitated that the rest of their lives would be short. As with many things I learned in elementary school, the reality is more complicated, and my 10-year-old self would be glad to know that my teacher was probably more wrong than right.

Living through a horrendous event, like confinement in a concentration camp or prisoner-of-war camp, does create health problems serious enough to shorten most people’s lives. But those who survive also seem to have other characteristics — perhaps a stronger immune system and a more optimistic outlook than the general population — that tend to make people live longer. New research suggests that such resilience can often overcome scarring.

MORE..

The results show that the camp survivors had higher rates of hypertension, cancer, dementia and obesity than native-born people of the same age and sex. For example, 83 percent of the survivors had hypertension, compared to 67 percent of the control group. Whether the Holocaust experience caused these differences is unclear, but they are consistent with my elementary school teacher’s statement.
The surprising part is that despite being in worse health, the Holocaust survivors lived 7.1 years longer — their average age at death was 85 years, compared to 78 among the control group. Those differences persist even after adjusting for socioeconomic status (Holocaust survivors tend to be poorer than their contemporaries), sex and other factors. Some other research has similarly found longer lives among survivors.

FINALLY..

What’s the conclusion, beyond answering a question that has stuck with me for four decades? First and most importantly, it’s not that a traumatic time is anything but hideous. It’s instead that those surviving such an event may be sturdier than others, and by so much that it more than offsets the additional ailments they wind up with. In other words, survivors can wind up living longer than average, but they would presumably have lived even longer in the absence of their gruesome experiences. Second, the effects of extreme events may be passed on to future generations: Whatever the effect on survivors, the Civil War evidence suggests their children may wind up paying a price.
