WHAT ISAAC LEFT BEHIND: A BIG CLEANUP AND LOTS OF POWER OUTAGES, INCLUDING IN NEW ORLEANS

The cleanup now begins. As Isaac rolls away as a depression, the deluge that he left in his tracks is still haunting residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and other Southern states. The next phase will be lots of rain for the Ohio Valley and other portions of the nation that are in dire need of a good soaking--sadly the rain the remnants of Isaac produces will do little to cut into the drought of 2012.

The other item of concern comes from the city of New Orleans. Isaac was no where near as bad as Katrina. But days later, most of the city is without power, as as this LA TIMES story writes, patience is wearing thin..

LABOR DAY SOLAR WATCH

A geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for September 3rd due to an expected CME impact. The Coronal Mass Ejection was caused by the large filament eruption on Friday afternoon. Minor to Moderate Geomagnetic Storming will be possible at high latitudes.

Even more: AR1560, a sunspot boiling on the sun, has quadrupled in size since just August 30-- it has a likelihood of producing strong flares and it now directly faces the planet. Watching that one..

NOAA forecasting a strong chance of M class flares.. X never out of the question if the sunspot becomes big enough..

It may not put out the fire, but finally an apology for the children with the the thalidomide

Pharmaceutical firm Gruenenthal apologized Friday for the first time over its drug, thalidomide.. That was the drug that Billy Joel saying about in his song We Didn't Start the Fire, and it was the drug that was given to many pregnant women during the 1950s. Their babies went on often to be born with either no arms or legs or short arms or legs, a birth defect that haunted them for the rest of their lives..

The drug thalidomide caused at least 10,000 children worldwide to have birth defects, an estimated 5000 to 6000 are still alive..

And now a generation later, the German company responsible for the pharmaceutical mistakes and defects, issued an apology.

Yes indeed, perhaps 50 years too late

SINKHOLE IN LOUISIANA DID 'NOT CHANGE' AS A RESULT OF ISAAC

Officials stated tonight that the sinkhole near Assumption Parish did not change as a result of the significant flooding rain produced by Hurricane Isaac. Parish officials said that the sinkhole 'didn't grow any' even though the area received drenching downpours.. It had been feared that the direct hit on the sinkhole was going to make the situation go from bad to worse..

As of now, at least, it appears that a bullet was dodged on that front.

Texas Brine said checks to residents who had to leave will start being issued Friday..

Though officials say 'no significant changes' have occurred with the sinkhole due to Isaac, the site has grown in the past month..

Chaos and heartbreak unfold across New Orleans, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama

This storm is nonstop. Isaac is not relenting, the storm is stagnant and stopped. For all the people who didn't think a category one storm could cause much damage, they need to watch the news, read the latest, and see the heartbreak happening as many places get flooded and other places watch water rising quickly..

Innocent people are suffering..

I am trying not to be political, but the major news networks are beginning to put politics in the storm. And if we are going to go down that road, if George Bush was guilty in 2005 for not caring about people, both Romney and Obama are guilty as well as a campaign during yet another tragic storm..

Isaac: The 12pm update

The storm has basically stalled.. it's not moving. Well, it's moving, but barely. As a matter of fact, a study of radar from 6am through noon today shows how little this storm has actually come on shore and how much it has to go.. for many areas being pounded with wind and rain right now, the storm is not yet even half over..

According to the latest collection of information from various sources:

There are reports of people trapped on roofs and in attics..

There are new warnings coming from the NOAA stating that a 'significant' flood threat is developing from Isaac..

The storm has weakened to 75 MPH but it maintains its form, most of it's eyewall, and moisture content.

The levees in New Orleans so far are withstanding the battering, however some other areas are seeing increased amounts of flooding... Officials remain confident that New Orleans will not face the same scenario that it saw 7 years ago today as Katrina rolled  on shore. Places in Mississippi are set to get large scale flooding inland as the storm moves north..

The chances of this staying a hurricane much  longer  are diminishing. However it will become a strong tropical storm  before it downgrades to a depression..Several more hours of rain and wind expected.

Stay tuned for more..

LOUISIANA SINKHOLE UPDATE; TEXAS BRINE CHECKS 'DELAYED'

The massive sinkhole is directly in the impact zone of Hurricane Isaac.

No official word exists yet on what is going on right now as the storm 's impact are beginning..

But we know these two stories of what happened in Florida:

  1. A sinkhole formed beneath a house in Florida..
  2. And this from Florida as well: Isaac made a sinkhole out of a road..
I fear that if Isaac is creating sinkholes where they did not exist, what will happen where one does exist??

Recently the HORROR REPORT relayed information that Texas Brine was going to distribute checks to people who had to evacuate Assumption due to butane and sinkhole fears.. But now the latest information from Bayou Corne is that those checks are going to be delayed due to Isaac.. As of Tuesday the sinkhole situation had not changed--but that was before major rains were set to begin..

This entire storm is creating chaos in an area that was already stressed due to the ever growing sinkhole.. Watching this closely..

Latest satellite image of Isaac from NOAA
Reports from a variety of sources indicate some of the following is occurring this morning due to the effects of Hurricane Isaac:

  • Almost 500,000 people without power in SE Louisiana..
  • Dangerous flooding is on the horizon for areas being hit with this storm, including New Orleans..
  • 72MPH wind gusts taking place in New Orleans..
  • Stretch of levee system in Plaquemines Parish has been overtopped.. this is the first official report coming last night around 4am from local affiliate WAFB.. NWS reported the same..
  • According to a report at 6:30 AM EDT there is significant flooding already taking place in New Orleans..
Radar shows Isaac is keeping itself intact as it continues to rotate onshore.. the eyewall is still very visible on radar..  Winds are still Category 1 .. this storm is losing no organization .. Absolutely astounding.

I hope the officialswho said for New Orleans residents not to leave are praying hard that those levees hold. I truly hope.. they had ample time to prepare, and enough days to organize an evacuation of the circumstances would have warranted.. These circumstances, with 2 feet of rain and 80MPH sustained winds, may have warranted...

Morning Isaac update.. things are getting bad

This storm is amazing--not in a a good way but in a potentially historic way. First a small sliver of Isaac came onto shore in Louisiana yesterday.. then moved back out to sea, strengthened again, and now the NHC began moving back onto shore again around 4am EDT this morning around Port Fourchon. This after dumping buckets of rain and howling winds through abandoned streets.. from photos and weather reports coming from the scene it would appear many people heeded the warnings to leave. But not everywhere..

As of now this storm is striking with about 80mph sustained winds.. and we cannot even fully describe the amount of rain predicted. Over a foot in many places.. over two feet of rain in some places, too.. The winds will not die down, either. This storm is packing a major punch and it's so slow that it will take hours before tropical storm winds begin to take over the Hurricane winds..

Southern Mississippi and Alabama are also getting his with blinding winds and rains..

CNN reporting this about Isaac

CNNWeather meteorologist Jim Hennen says that unlike many other hurricanes that move inland and weaken quickly, Isaac could actually strengthen over the Louisiana bayou and hold its intensity as a hurricane through much of the night. It should begin to slowly lose intensity later tonight as it moves farther inland.

Watching closely.. And hoping for the best as the night goes on..

And hoping the sinkhole area does not go haywire tonight..

Coast to Coast: A recipe for 'disaster' ??

A ferocious debate has spiked online once again about the radio show Coast to Coast AM. This time, not because of Art Bell threatening Premiere, but instead because of a current host: John B. Wells.

Those who are familiar with the situation know that Wells took over as the Saturday night voice for the show when Ian Punnett left due to medical circumstances, and announced he was giving up the regular spot in turn for 12 shows a year.. Some argue that Wells took the show immediately in a political direction. He has hosted shows on science, physics, and UFOs, but he also has topics such as 9/11 conspiracy, shows about banking.. Alex Jones as a guest... references to Infowars.. and things that make lots of people uncomfortable.. Apparently.

RW Sanders has written an article appearing on the popular website HUFFINGTON POST about how Wells has taken the show in a political direction..  Sanders argues in his story that the Coast to Coast is heading towards a disaster, losing the appeal that Art Bell created.. He even instructed readers of his writings to email George Noory to fire Wells and get rid of the format of the Saturday show. The article has drawn so much attention that even George Noory himself responded in the comments section, saying,

Now on Election night we will have psychics on with that coast to coast spin......that's about the ONLY time..Ill do anything close to a political show. But on that date our 560 stations expect that.

We will always broadcast the mysteries of the mind and universe....I do appreciate the comments and feedback.

George Noory

Host of Coast to CoastAM
Not a wholehearted seal of approval from George Noory... now is it?

Perhaps Mr. Noory should be thankful that John B. Wells has come aboard the 'mothership.'

Wells brought newfound attention to Coast to Coast AM.. he is bringing new listeners, and perhaps new topics..

Has he changed direction or is he swimming against the tide of paranormal..?

Art did politics. Sometimes. And current events. And he mixed in paranormal.. and plain old open lines minus the call screeners.

Debate has intensified in the comments section of the HUFFINGTON POST article along with message boards and other places devoted to the radio program.

Maybe there is something to be said for what Wells is doing.

I know there has been debate coupled with consternation about the whole issue..

Wells seems to be appealing to a more intense base of fans, one that Coast to Coast does not have when Noory hosts. Noory is fluff--Art Bell was NOT fluff, but Noory took Bell's shows and turned them into a cotton candy version of it all. Wells came in and swept that all away and created a brand new Saturday night show.. It will be interesting to see which version of Coast to Coast AM survives.

I also say this.. if a future exists where Wells is the main host, I think he will broaden the subject matter. I think he is feels he needs to get all of "his issues" in 52 shows a year, instead of the hundreds Noory can do... just a thought.

But I still keep reading that Noory response to the Huffington Post article and I feel that he is not 'well' with Wells. It almost seems to me that the 'ship's captain' is a little bitter. After all, think about it. He has been second rate to Art Bell even with Bell being gone as the host for years.. and now with Wells, only filling in Saturday slots, yet again he is second ..

Wells gets the attention with Alex Jones and banking spankings, while Noory is simply mocked  for not having an understanding of the subject matter that his shows cover.

Bitterness perhaps is spiking in Coast land..

Isaac making landfall

Strong winds.. Heavy rains.. Big storm surge hits Coastline

The 4 PM update on Isaac; heavy winds and torrential rains expected

A troubling situation is beginning to unfold for New Orleans, Louisiana, Alabama, and all the areas that will be affected by hurricane Isaac..

Winds aloft are over 100 mph several thousand feet up, and forecasters fear that those winds may descend as Isaac approaches land..

The other precarious situation Will be the amount of excessive rainfall that dump out of this hurricane. If production holds true Isaac is set to drench New Orleans with a direct hit of about 7 to 20 inches of rain.. Officials are adamant that the levees will hold and after seven years of fixing that has occurred there will pay off during the storm, however one must question the logic that no official wanted to evacuate the city given the disaster that occurred after Katrina in 2005..

The storm will have a dramatic impact as it is a slow moving system that could take hours just to fully move onto land. Isaac is forecasted to be hitting the Gulf Coast by midnight tonight, however models show that within 6 to 8 hours the storm is only 20 to 30 miles inland.. That equals a very troubling situation as this slow-moving system will continue to pound the area with heavy winds and torrential downpour, along with tornadoes and any other form of severe weather respond by such a storm..

Isaac is currently a category 1 hurricane, and has the potential to become a category 2.. The time for preparation is just about done, if you are in the areas that will be slammed by Isaac now was time to hunker down, pray, and hope the levees hold if those levees are holding back a lake around..

There will be heavy rain and flooding in places that don't expect to get it..

Stay tuned to this website and other weather sources for the most up-to-date information that can be provided..

And may God watch over and keep all people safe during this tumultuous event..

Some details as Isaac rolls through the goal

Some Isaac basics. The storm is about 200 miles wide of tropical storm winds.. It is expected to make landfall as a category one storm .. it is expected to produce 7 to 14 inches of rain. Due to the large storm in the amount of miles wide it is a big storm surge is expected for low-lying areas such as New Orleans..
The levee system has been supposedly bettered since Katrina and 2005, but I don't think officials expected a test of that system so soon..

But soon it will be tested, the store impacts are already going to begin shortly with bands of rain coming onto the coastline, and after that drenching downpours and flooding will begin..

May God watch over this area. Pray for these fine folks, because there's nothing left but that to do now.

This is not officially a hurricane yet but I think I see an eye

Latest satellite imagery .. And I'm pretty certain an eye has developed or is now.. This should be a hurricane officially very soon..

The good news is models finally seem to agree and are converging on the track of Isaac. The bad news is where they agree Isaac is going

Here all the models. As you can see the all pretty much agree this storm is coming in

As Isaac moves closer to Louisiana; Parishes evacuate, including Assumption where the sinkhole lurks

The following parishes are under a mandatory evacuation according to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal: Ascension, Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Plaquemines, Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington.
Notice that assumption Parish is under an evacuation order, right near the Bayou that has been bubbling and the giant sinkhole that has been developing.
Officials and Texas Brine Co. work to secure the massive hole's exploratory rig and other equipment..
The sinkhole is now the size of at least three football fields. The track that Isaac takes will bring massive amounts of rain into Louisiana, New Orleans, and the area where the sinkhole is..
Officials have been talking about what would happen if this hurricane struck the sinkhole, within hours the world will find out what exactly will happen..
Fyi: New Orleans is not under an evacuation order.

A new age of ghost hunting emerges

By now you have seen all of the TV shows, ghost hunters are abundant.

They're on your television set almost on nightly.. They run around in the dark abandoned buildings, houses, old strange sanitariums, old prisons.. And just for good measure every now and then they throw in a hospital or nursing home..

What do they look for? Ghosts.

I personally have never seen one, at least I don't think I have. I have had be okay Jeanal scare, hairs raise on my arms, or vision out of the corner of my eye. I do have a video of my son's staring around the home and a white particle flies around his head, which could just be dust or... A ghost!

But it is a bout time for reality to set it. The vast majority of cases in which people report ghosts are probably not real, or people jumping to an absurd conclusion that they have a spirit attached to them or their home. Most of the time if people would just think about science, or other natural things, they may be able to explain away the paranormal with something very normal. That does not mean however, that ghosts don't exist, it just means we need to get rid of the nonsense and focus on the true mysteries that could bring us into a better position to find real paranormal entities.

Here is a media profile on a paranormal society doing just that, and they say 90% of ghost reports can be explained away. Their names are Jason Porter, and Mat Owens, and they run the Carolina Paranormal Society.

The story is interesting, and they seem like pretty scientific fellows. Which is exactly what the new field of paranormal investigation needs. Didn't you ever find it interesting that every time the TV stars who hunt for ghosts go to a location they find them? Pretty good numbers don't you think? And probably too good to be true.

The HORROR REPORT is in the process of interviewing Mr. Porter on his passion for ghosts, his thoughts on the afterlife, and even more. Stay tuned later this week for more information on the HORROR REPORT's story on the Carolina Paranormal Society.. I have most of the story done along with some great interview questions and responses from Jason Porter, but I wanted to hold back publication of that article until Isaac passes by and we have more time to dedicate to the article..

It is my hope that more people like this paranormal society will pop up and bring that much needed burst of common sense to this new-found popular field.

After all, if 90% can be explained away, we still have 10% back and raise those hairs on my arms..

Later this week when you read Jason Porter's experiences with ghosts--true ghosts--perhaps the hairs on your arms will raise too..

STAY TUNED.
