DID AMERICA JUST HAVE 'THE BINGE'?

binge

You have seen the PURGE.. This time, America is in for its annual BINGE.. Eating gone wrong.

The idea is humorous.. the parody trailer for the BINGE is even better from the FIT TEA..

Take a look-see and wonder if you, too, experienced the annual binge..

Malls once meant something to people. Now they have become empty shells of history

Though I mocked the entire process of Black Friday, I did venture out for a bit yesterday just to peruse a few local shopping centers. These locations are in trouble. They have been for some time. Not even Black Friday could save them. They were desolate and empty, Christmas music was blaring loudly and echoing through almost empty corridors. And even though other malls may have been busier places, the nationwide verdict is in: People didn't go out in big numbers for Black Friday, or Thanksgiving night just as well. It was a bust..

I went to lunch with a friend and actually purchase most of my gifts waiting for my sandwich by shopping online. I didn't hit complete order yet, but the cart is awaiting my approval. In a few days I'll get my gifts in the mail. The gifts I want, the name brands I want. I think the days of malls are over.. perhaps even the days of Walmart would theoretically be coming as well.

What are we losing in that process though?
Malls were the plaza of pop culture, the place where families went for an entire evening out. I recall fond memories myself, with my sister getting 'lost' in the mall with friends while my mother and father allowed me to check the racks of the toy store for the newest He-Man action figure.

035_galinsky

We have moved on from the mall scene. It's over. Those remaining are desperate.. a few may survive. Some may even somehow thrive. But by the time this year is over, I think lots of malls are going to figure out that it was their last Christmas. Perhaps even mine.

MASHABLE is running a good story called 1989 AMERICA'S MALLS. This was a prime time. I remember that is when I was five.. BATMAN was in theaters... Retail was strong. Bon Ton still wrapped gifts.. and life was good.  The MASHABLE article profiles Michael Galinsky's photoset of malls that he started taking in 1989. There are no themes to his photos. Instead just moments captured in time in 1989.  They are reminders of the iconic mall's stance in our collective lives. TIME magazine has the story behind the photoset, one that was revealed a few years ago now.

Fast forward to now.

Seph Lawless, my favorite photographer who risks jail time to get the perfect picture, is offering up a book just in time for Christmas on his website called BLACK FRIDAY SEASON IN THE SIZE OF DAYS. It shows abandoned malls in all four seasons.. Winter spring summer and fall.. it gives us a glimpse of what has occurred in the malls that once housed our romantic love, our fun nights out, and a dinners with families on a Sunday afternoon..

A last minute selfie gift for Christmas

The selfie stick.. both dreaded and admired at the same time.. slowly picking up steam.. others laugh. But then they secretly desire it.

But this year you can spice things up a bit more with the new and improved selfie stick.. one that looks like you've gotten an arm extension..

The invention was created by author Mansoon and featured on the website Omocoro..

This is the year the selfie stick took over. But 2016 may be the year where you will learn to conceal it with a giant four foot arm extension. I love pop culture.

Sonic boom noises being heard across parts of Schuylkill County Pennsylvania

This one is hitting very close to Horror Report home base.. There are hundreds of comments on Facebook at the hour of people claiming to hear sonic booms repeatedly sounding near their homes in the central part of Schuylkill County PA.. Some even say that the booms are shaking their homes..

The towns of Cressona, Schuylkill Haven, and Pottsville seem to be the location for the majority of reports..

Commenters on Facebook write that they have alerted loca police and that law enforcement is aware of the increasingly high number of boom reports this evening..

This is not a new phenomenon. As a matter of fact, the last several years have been populated wth reports of sonic booms and earth groans across the planet, just like those being heard tonight by witnesses..

The Horror Report will follow the story and update accordingly..

Red Friday: Door busted

Despite the fights.. Regardless of the door busters.. In spite of the supposed sales.:. None of it working out.

Stores are empty!

Thanksgiving shopping was a dud!

Black Friday a bust!

The culture changing? Get ready UPS, the online shopping era came years ago but is now solidly becoming the norm. Brick and mortar are going like Main Street in the 20th century..

From MARKETWATCH
“We believe Thanksgiving shopping was a bust,” said analysts at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in a note. They conducted channel checks in the New York metro area, New England and the Southeast region starting on Thanksgiving Day and throughout the night into Black Friday.

THE LEGEND OF KRAMPUS MEETS MOVIE THEATERS in 2015

krampus-poster-388x600The movie is finally coming.. the legend of KRAMPUS on big screens just in time for Christmas 2015..

The legend is mighty indeed.

The KRAMPUS trailer:

[youtube https://youtu.be/TrzyvdVrRa8]

While this film may bring a new subject matter to a number of horror genre fans, others of us have known of the stories for quite some time. Perhaps even since our own childhood.

In Catholic grade school, we had a custom I never questioned as a child.. we would put our shoes outside of the classroom in the hallway. We had to stay in our rooms. When we heard a bell ring, we checked afterwards to see what was in our shoes.. It was candy, which signified a visit from Santa was in the offing. We were always warned that coal would be much worse. We were not told by the Ukraniun nuns that it would have meant Krampus would visit. Also, we were not told but eventually figured out that the 'bell' ringer was actually the janitor of the school.

Regardless..

The Krampus legend is frightening.. People today still celebrate it with massive marches and parties..

The HORROR REPORT has had some good tales of Krampus on this site over the past few years..

Links below may be good background to get yourself prepared for the demon of Christmas..

Scary ghost stories of Christmases long long ago

Keeping the creepy in Christmas

Ghost stories on Christmas Eve

I got an email a few days back asking if we will tone down paranormal news with Halloween ending.
And now Thanksgiving is gone, too.

The paranormal will actually increase.

Christmas by nature is a very paranormal time.. And we will respond accordingly.

As done for years, we will keep the creepy in Christmas.

It's the most wonderful time of the year: Shoppers putting a 'punch' into Black Friday

Black Friday is filled with countless amazing stories of great deals and beautiful people shopping. But let's face it, that is not the type of stuff we enjoy.
We like the fights..
The brutal seasons beatings..
We have no time for quaint tales of monetary bounties. We want the blood and guts..

This year, like others, we simply have to search the news accounts of Black Friday and we will be hit with a lot of fodder for our enjoyment. Forgive me for giving press to such notoriety.. but deep down, we just love watching endless consumerism equal inhumanity and desperate people doing desperate things.

For ....plastic.. For .. slave-made products.. For .. junk in the trunk.

A few notes from 'Merica so far..

Here is a video showing people running around for an in-demand STEAMER (a veggie steamer people) ... a woman is seen ripping it out of the arms of a child..

That was worth it, right?

I bet the extra violence in the purchase will surrreee feel nice when you wrap up that gift--one that will no doubt be in a landfill by sometime around mid-2016..

Here is another piece of cinematic glory for Christmas time: Punches are being thrown at a Kentucky mall:

Here are the kids doing what they do best, I assume:

Keep some decency people!
Keep some perspective.

This is going to be the theme of this fine Black Friday morning.. children being brutalized by adults because they are holding vegetable steamers.

These are mostly products you don't really need.. don't really want.. really cannot afford.. And you are also (sorry to tell you) not getting any deals much at all! The prices have already been artificially inflated so when they go back to a little closer to normal for Black Friday you think you get a whopping deal. It's all a hoax. It's all staged.. And you , when you chop while you shop and beat your fellow neighbor over steamers, are simply actors on that already built stage of retail.

Enjoy it..

Just a few more..

Turkey and trimmings with a side of wartime

parademilitary

Thanksgiving 2015 in the United States seems to be getting defined by all the trouble in the world. Chaos overseas.. Terror in Paris. And Turkey shooting down a Russian jet.

Is this life during wartime, or just life as we will now know it..?

The NEW YORK TIMES headlines lead us into the Thanksgiving holiday. The Macý's Thanksgiving Day Parade is featuring giant floats of Power Rangers and Peanuts.. but it will not be difficult to see the other presence: A militrized police force with heavily loaded weapons staring back at people.. they may be mistaken for Darth Vader. But they are not, they are the police protecting the city from any and all threats. Named or unnamed..

So far unnamed, though assumed.

The TIMES reports.

As an expected three million spectators turn their eyes skyward on Thursday morning, police sharpshooters on rooftops will be peering down for any signs of trouble at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

In addition to Snoopy and SpongeBob floating overhead, there will be mobile cameras and police helicopters, specially trained police dogs sniffing for traces of explosives and officers patrolling on horseback, said James P. O’Neill, the New York Police Department’s chief of department, its highest-ranking uniformed officer.

Observation posts, staffed by officers from the elite Emergency Service Unit, will be watching for suspicious activity; officers will use radiation detectors to seek out evidence of a dirty bomb; and teams of plainclothes officers will mix unobtrusively with revelers spread along the two and a half miles of the Manhattan parade route between 9 a.m. and noon.

Dirty bombs.. And Al Roker.
The new staples of our holiday tradition.

While the United States may be force feeding themselves en masse today, there are problems awaiting attention tomorrow. Such as Turkey refusing to say sorry to Russia for shooting down its jet. Instead they want an apology.

Neither seems likely.

Welcome to the Black Friday that awaits the United States after the calorie and carb malaise wears off by midnight.

THE DOME ON THE RED ROCK

Unless you live under a rock or on the planet Mars, you've heard about this rumor flying around the net: There is a dome on the red planet. Perhaps not just any dome.. but .. a dome showing off a religious institution of yesteryear among Martians. Perhaps even of today! Perhaps it's still in use!? Maybe built with taxpayer dollars on the red planet...?

There are a few points to remember when looking at any image like this, in this case from the Sol 4073 camera: We can see LOTS of things in the Martian soil and background that resemble things we know. Our brains that does. We liken certain shapes to other things we are familiar with.

That being said..

This sure as hell looks like a dome.

The picture in total here:

1P489773398EFFCNK6P2413R1M1

The location to focus on: The top right. On that mountain. You know, right where the dome is?

OF course if the Jet Propulsion Laboratory linked this on their own site, you'd certainly think less of a conspiracy they are trying to hide of life on the planet and more simply of a rock formation that we have taken and created a name for.

But again..
It just looks like a dome. And near it a path? Or a structure that seems to compliment the dome? Perhaps a guard shack?

However, the tricks your eyes can do are amazing.

After all, it's not just a dome I see in this picture.

Note the middle of the image, towards the left. There is a rock that looks uniquely like the online fad the Annoying Orange. To better help, a visual presentation of that:

annoyingorange

While I certainly don't think the annoying orange formation is anything more than a rock with shadows that resemble a mouth and eyes, I will say this: That dome? Yes indeed. That looks a lot like a dome.

Drama in the desert: Art Bell explains 'serious incident'

Last night Art Bell canceled his program MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT at the last minute due to a 'serious incident' that occurred. The description of events that were told tonight on Thanksgiving eve were chilling.

Bell said 'somebody or somebodies don't want me on the air,' as he went on to explain several instances starting with the October live radio shooting that occurred while Bell was broadcasting. A police report on that matter was filed, and many neighbors heard shots. One described a dark car and witnessed the person shooting the rifle near Bell's studio on his property.

On November 18, Bell said that another incident occurred at 7:50 PM PDT, where  a call was placed to his house and a man's voice said if he went on the air that night both he and his family 'would be killed.'  The number was blocked and service providers were not able to provide further information. Tonight was the first time that Bell publicly relayed this information to his listening audience.

On November 23, as Bell began his interview with Michio Kaku, he explained that security lights in the rear of the home went on. Bell grabbed a gun and went to the door as he observed a man crouched down near his studio window before taking off into the darkness of the desert.  Another police report was filed after the incident.

Bell admits being shaken up by the happenings, calling it 'terrorism on a personal level.'

Art Bell had a moment where he realized that he could have shot the intruder, saying "the next day it hit me like a bomb, 'I almost shot at somebody'" during his on air description of the events.

Bell explained not only has his life been disrupted, but his wife and child also have been living in a state of fear concerning the events.

Security has been increased, as Bell joked it is 'fit for a king, or dictator.'

Allegations are not being publicly made as to who it is that may be committed the acts on Bell's property, but suspicions are a plenty across the interview.

But the show goes on.. Bell is broadcasting in spite of threats and outside interests that seem compelled to keep him off the air.

And fans are listening, sending positive thoughts and prayers, and offering intentions of concern for the beloved radio host..

Reality headline of the day: "Preventing World War III"

Turkey shot down a Russian jet this week .. and with it, shattered the safety and security of the world.

While the planet may always seem to be a hair trigger away from total chaos and anarchy, this event seemed likely to push us further to the brink of war.. or something.
Thanksgiving in America, people rushing home to be with friends and foes alike. Meanwhile the rest of the planet isn't taking that break, instead they are rushing to battle.. arming their weapons.. finding their stations. Launching their tactics.. and positioning themselves in the game of either chess or checkers depending on your point of view of modern headlines.

This is the planet at large. One filled with doom and gloom..
Terror and tales of fear.
The horror isn't just on movie screens or televisions.. it's real. It's now beginning to be palpable.

The REUTERS news service issued an opinion dispatch that may dampen the turkey gravy your dinner table.

The headline is blunt:

Preventing World War Three in Syria between Turkey and Russia

Is 'wow' the correct way to describe a reaction to such a piece?

Joshua Walker writes this in the report,
Despite hopes of a “grand coalition” forming in the wake of the Ankara, Sinai, and Paris bombings claimed by the so-called Islamic State, now there is an urgent need for de-escalation to salvage what little is left of peace and stability in the Middle East.

Moscow’s immediate accusations of Ankara’s “back-stabbing” and support for Islamic State followed by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s warnings of “serious consequences,” highlight just how high the stakes in Syria are for all parties involved. Hopes that the spillover effects from Syria could be contained are now dashed.

Turkey’s support of their ethnic brethren, the Turkmen of the northern Syrian region where the Russian pilots likely ejected, will only further complicate the situation on the ground. Given the fissures among the Kurds, Islamists, and rebel groups fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian and Iranian supported forces, there is no hope of victory on the ground. To avoid further confrontation in the air and to prevent Russia from any retaliatory action, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization must re-affirm its support of Turkey and call for an immediate no-fly moratorium over Syria.

Yes indeed, these are serious times. Serious consequences also can result from actions or inactions.. Mistakes or mishaps.
And yes... TURKEY is a member of NATO. And NATO may be requested to...say...defend appropriately.. and Russia may ... say.. respond to Turkey.. and China may...say... take a stand. And Kim Jong UN will ask for attention with a nuclear test.

And you can see how this ends.

We are thrust into chaos continuously. Cooler heads can prevail. One of these days they won't.

The choice is in the hands of leaders who can push buttons and launch missiles.. Leaders who are fallible. Leaders with mental illness..

And leaders who we elect or are stuck with.

Yes, indeed. Preventing "world war 3" is a mighty task. Especially with the escalation of tension of tactics...

The #CondomChallenge making its way around the NET

Pop Culture 2015..

Your thanksgiving table may be filled with corn and crazy amounts of food.. afterwards you may want to join in the new challenge sweeping the nation, and thanks to the internet, the world: The Condom Challenge.

It's simple.. fill a condom with water and drop it on your friend's head.

Hilarity ensues..
And according to some attempting to find promise in the teens of today: A lesson. Durable condoms work best.

MASHABLE is among those giving homage to the latest trend online.

Perhaps it's best to say, while some may be attempting a lesson in safe sexual relations, others are simply doing this: Filling condoms with water and dropping on the heads of their friends...

No word on whether flavored varieties are being used..

The JFK assassination video you've never seen

I missed this story a few days ago, but it’s important. The United States government is being sued by a woman for the return of ‘lost’ footage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy..

Reporting from the UK GAURDIAN:
A woman whose grandfather shot a home video of the assassination of presidentJohn F Kennedy that has since been misplaced is suing the US government, demanding the film be returned or that she be paid $10m in compensation.

Gayle Nix Jackson filed the lawsuit in federal court on Saturday, one day before the 52nd anniversary of Kennedy’s death. The film was shot by her grandfather Orville Nix and shows the assassination in Dealey plaza in Dallas on 22 November 1963.

Jackson’s lawsuit claims the film is as important as the assassination footage captured by Abraham Zapruder with his movie camera. The federal government settled with Zapruder’s heirs in 1999 to purchase the film for $16m.

The claim states: “According to the Warren Commission, the Nix film is nearly as important as the Zapruder film, yet the public is mainly unaware of its significance.”

The Warren Commission conducted the government’s investigation of the shooting.

The footage was sold by Nix with an understanding that it would be returned 25 years later. It never was..  it was sold to UPI. UPI turned it over to the government. The public is unaware of this video, focusing more on the famed Zapruder film..

This video of Orville Nix is interesting.. take a look-see.. and go with the flow. And question more than you do.

LET’S EAT!!

AMERICA 2015: THANKFUL?
AMERICA 2015: PEACEFUL?
AMERICA 2015: UNITED?

More questions than answers about the psyche of the country this day. But turkey will be a plenty as animal proteins get consumed across the United States.. After the gluttony expands the waste and blows off the buttons of pants, the shopping until the dropping will begin.  Unless people have finally found the beauty of online clicking. Cyber Monday? Or “BLK Friday” as Turkey Hill has officially called it?

It’s time to get your gobble on.

'Serious incident' at Art Bell's house

This was posted to Art Bell’s Facebook page tonight.. Those following know he had a recent shooting incident take place on his property during a live show.. It would be conjecture to say any such similar event has occurred but it would appear something serious may have occurred..

Last night during his program he mentioned that he thought there was an intruder on his property before the show.. No further mention was made after his initial comment prior to interviewing Michio Kaku..

2015. The year to play it safe. Stick to video games..

NOT SO HUNGRY FOR HUNGER GAMES

THE GOOD NEWS: MOCKINGJAY PART 2 takes the box office // numbers coming in // $104 million opening set as it becomes the 5th highest opening of the entire year..

The BAD NEWS: It is the LOWEST of all in the HUNGER GAMES series.. Even more, the word of mouth may not have been good. The best day for the movie: Friday. After that, a significant 25% drop occurred in ticket sales..

SPECTRE taking second place..

The PEANUTS MOVIE still dancing, but dropping to third place.. the NIGHT BEFORE weak in fourth place.

THE MARTIAN still in the top ten.

And everything changes in less than a month when the next STAR WARS movie comes out. That is when the box office may truly get rocked with hardcore numbers not seen in years..

IF the force awakens..
