One haunting clip showed McAvoy’s character – an adult Ben Denbrough – racing through a claustrophobic house-of-mirrors in a bid to stop the clown’s murderous spree.

McAvoy said he pulled muscles and developed tendonitis during an arduous, physical shoot in which Muschietti demanded endless multiple takes.

“Zero Dark Thirty” actress Chastain also praised the genre’s portrayal of strong women in the age of #MeToo.

YOU ARE OWNED!

FaceApp now owns access to images of over 150 million users’ faces and names, according to a Wednesday-published Forbes report.

Owned by Russian parent company Wireless Labs, FaceApp is a popular mobile app allowing users to add visual effects to photos of their faces to alter their facial expressions, look, and appearance of age..

FACEAPP RESPONDS!

FaceApp released the following statement in response to the above-mentioned reports:

We are receiving a lot of inquiries regarding our privacy policy and therefore, would like to provide a few points that explain the basics:

1. FaceApp performs most of the photo processing in the cloud. We only upload a photo selected by a user for editing. We never transfer any other images from the phone to the cloud.

2. We might store an uploaded photo in the cloud. The main reason for that is performance and traffic: we want to make sure that the user doesn’t upload the photo repeatedly for every edit operation. Most images are deleted from our servers within 48 hours from the upload date.

3. We accept requests from users for removing all their data from our servers. Our support team is currently overloaded, but these requests have our priority. For the fastest processing, we recommend sending the requests from the FaceApp mobile app using “Settings->Support->Report a bug” with the word “privacy” in the subject line. We are working on the better UI for that.

4. All FaceApp features are available without logging in, and you can log in only from the settings screen. As a result, 99% of users don’t log in; therefore, we don’t have access to any data that could identify a person.

5. We don’t sell or share any user data with any third parties.

6. Even though the core R&D team is located in Russia, the user data is not transferred to Russia.

Additionally, we’d like to comment on one of the most common concerns: all pictures from the gallery are uploaded to our servers after a user grants access to the photos (for example, https://twitter.com/joshuanozzi/status/1150961777548701696).  We don’t do that. We upload only a photo selected for editing. You can quickly check this with any of network sniffing tools available on the internet.

Tension rises in Iran

DEVELOPING TONIGHT..

President Trump said the U.S. Navy downed an Iranian drone that was flying too close to a U.S. warship in the Strait of Hormuz, hours after Iranian forces said they had seized a foreign tanker, the latest in a series of incidents that have ratcheted up tensions in a vital oil shipping route.

Mr. Trump said the USS Boxer, an amphibious assault ship, took defensive action against the drone, which he said was “threatening the safety of the ship and the ship’s crew” in the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow channel leading into the Persian Gulf through which a third of the world’s seaborne oil is transported.

The drone was “immediately destroyed,” Mr. Trump said. The president called the approach by the drone the latest “of many provocative and hostile actions by Iran against vessels operating in international waters.”

Amendment offered by New Jersey Republican Rep. Chris Smith to order the Pentagon inspector general to conduct a review about whether the military experimented with making ticks into biological weapons. The amendment, passed by the House last week by a voice vote, would require the Pentagon inspector general to examine “whether the Department of Defense experimented with ticks and other insects regarding its use as a biological weapon between the years of 1950 and 1975.”

Netflix said it added 2.7 million new subscribers worldwide in the April-June period, well below expectations, as the sector prepared for offerings from rival groups including Walt Disney, Apple and others.

Shares in Netflix skidded 11.97 percent to $319.07 in after-market trade following the results, which showed revenues and profits largely in line with analyst forecasts.

There are times when growth just stops.

Google and Facebook are watching what porn sites you go to

Many social media companies block porn from their networks.. but they are sure interested in what sites you go to to see it.

More from a report on the NEW YORK TIMES:

Trackers from tech companies like Google and Facebook are logging your most personal browsing details, according to a forthcoming New Media & Society paper, which scanned 22,484 pornography websites. Where that data ultimately goes is not always clear.

“These porn sites need to think more about the data that they hold and how it’s just as sensitive as something like health information,” said Elena Maris, a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft and the study’s lead author. “Protecting this data is crucial to the safety of its visitors. And what we’ve seen suggests that these websites and platforms might not have thought all of this through like they should have.”

The worrying thing that happens when you use the viral face aging app

The worrying thing that happens when you use the viral face aging app:

Suddenly just about everyone on social media is using FaceApp to make themselves old.. the old making themselves young.

Be aware of this:

“You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform and display your User Content and any name, username or likeness provided in connection with your User Content in all media formats and channels now known or later developed, without compensation to you,” its terms read.

In practise that means that the photos you upload into the app might seem initially private, but that they could be used in very public ways later on.

Similarly, the company’s privacy policy makes clear that it is able to collect and store information from your phone and that it might be used for ads or other forms of marketing.

According to some in the DNC, there are warnings it is a secret Russian spy app to be afraid of..

“More than 250 million of the birds live across North and Central America, and this summer some are feeling extra aggressive toward human neighbors—driving them to change walking routes, wear protective headgear or furiously wave arms above their heads as they jog. “You talk to people about being attacked by birds, and they look at you like you’re crazy,” says Mr. Vedder, a 60-year-old programmer. “This is ‘The Birds’ all over again, but it’s real!” Many people who have long lived in harmony with the birds have noticed an uptick in their aerial assaults this season. Bird-on-human attacks are growing more common as people encroach on their habitats, says Lori Naumann, information officer at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.”

This is so true. Has been happening here in Pennsylvania. People have been complaining about aggressive birds and birds that suddenly are dying by flying head on into houses and moving cars in bigger numbers ..

JOHN CARPENTER REVEALS JASON BLUM’S CHALLENGE FOR HALLOWEEN

“Jason Blum came to me and said, ‘This movie is going to be made, so we’d like you, John, to come aboard as [an] executive producer and just sort of shepherd it through, and maybe do the music,’” Carpenter told Variety.

“I could offer advice. I could talk to the director. I like the director very much. I like the script. So, you know, stop throwing rocks from the sidelines and get in there and try to do something positive.”

An unconfirmed report from June revealed Blumhouse and studio Universal Pictures will shoot Halloween 2 this fall for a planned October 16, 2020 release date.

Reportedly Jamie Lee Curtis will also return.

The biggest challenge is for Blum.. and the challenge is to make all of this seem relevant after all of these years.. all of these incarnations..

The remake struck a chord.. But will a sequel to a remake?

Yet another weird power outage in a major city with no explanation as to what’s causing it.. this...

How many cyber attacks are occurring without us being told?

Odd events continue.. All since the pre Fourth of July Mike Pence cancellation in New Hampshire and secret Putin meeting.. And the Russian ship.. and the Verizon AT&T and other cell provider problems.. and 911 outages across the East Coast.. And then New York City blackouts without any explanation with a warning more are coming.

And now this:

Europe’s Galileo satellite network has been almost entirely offline since Thursday, according to the European GNSS Service Center. The Galileo network of satellites is Europe’s answer to the American GPS system, Russia’s Glonass, and the Chinese Beidou system, all of which are what enable devices like our phones to pinpoint our location.

Fast Company reports,

So far there’s no reported sign of any kind of cyber attack on the Galileo system and the European GNSS Agency (GSA) is describing the issue as a “technical incident related to its ground infrastructure.”

"Hi! You have reached the residence of Murray Bauman. Mom, if this is you, please hang up and call me..."

The future is now! A Theoretical neuroscientist writes: Why I’m turning my son into a cyborg

The future is now! A Theoretical neuroscientist writes: Why I’m turning my son into a cyborg:

The money quote.

I don’t want to “cure” someone of themselves. Especially not my son. I want them to be able to share that self with the world.

Kurt Vonnegut’s short story Harrison Bergeron imagined a planet in which prosthetic handicaps make us all equal by removing advantage. While a standardized world may seem utopic, it is equally possible that we’d lose our rich differences through over-augmentation as well. If we assume there is only one kind of strength, one kind of beauty, or one kind of intelligence, then we might super-normalize away the rich difference of human existence.

It’s seductively easy to imagine a world in which we’re a little smarter or a bit more creative, in which our kids have the latest advantage. But augmentation could also become a tool to entrench inequality even more firmly.

These technologies can and should be used to give people with disabilities—the non-neurotypical—the ability to exist and thrive in a neurotypical world. But what happens once everyone has a superpower in their back pocket?

What happens when we all want to become superhuman?

Everything theoretical is not possible. Everything you learned from BRAVE NEW WORLD is old world.

This is the future.
And the future is now.

The military forced to say it will defend Area 51!

More than 400,000 people have joined a Facebook event page calling for storming Area 51, with many more indicating interest. The proposed event is scheduled for Sept. 20.

The Washington Post on Friday asked how officials will deal with anyone showing up for the event. Air Force spokeswoman Laura McAndrews declined to elaborate on specific details of the military’s plans. However, she did issue a warning.

“[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces,” McAndrews said. “The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.”

Art Bell’s replacement Heather Wade floated the Area 51 raid before she abruptly quit her show.. before his death, Art Bell actually said she should not go through with it.

This newest petition is believed to have begun as a gag.. or was it a final homage to Bell?

Either way.. guns are at the ready for any invasion of alien. Or human.
