Hakuna Corona: Fourth of July virus scare for White House
Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of President Trump’s eldest son and a top fund-raising official for the Trump re-election campaign, tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday before a Fourth of July event at Mount Rushmore, a person familiar with her condition said.
Ms. Guilfoyle traveled to South Dakota with Mr. Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr., in anticipation of attending a huge fireworks display where the president was set to speak. They did not travel aboard Air Force One, according to the person familiar with her condition, and she was the only person in the group who tested positive.
As the report was issued, President Trump was set to give a rousing anti-cancel culture speech at Mt. Rushmore, and end the event with a grand fireworks display..

The early 2000s called and wants its social wars back
St. Edward Catholic School in Nashville, Tenn., has removed the internationally bestselling “Harry Potter” book series from its library, citing the depiction of “curses and spells.”
The Rev. Dan Reehil, a pastor at the Roman Catholic parish school, told The Tennessean newspaper that the seven-book series had been removed from the school library.
“These books present magic as both good and evil, which is not true, but in fact a clever deception, Reehil said in a statement to the paper. "The curses and spells used in the books are actual curses and spells; which when read by a human being risk conjuring evil spirits into the presence of the person reading the text.”
Just for perspective, it has been 20 years since the books were published….

Trump and the ALABAMA hurricane threat…
During an Oval Office briefing Wednesday, Trump displayed a map of the National Hurricane Center forecast for last Thursday that showed Dorian could track over Florida. The map he displayed included what appeared to be a hand-drawn half-circle that extended the cone of uncertainty over a swath of Alabama.
Trump had raised eyebrows and drawn an emphatic fact check from the National Weather Service on Sunday when he tweeted that Alabama, along with the Carolinas and Georgia, “will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated.”
He appears to be doubling down on the clearly incorrect weather prognostication..
And now on Wednesday, Trump displayed the graphic with the alteration that suggested the storm could have tracked over Alabama.Trump had no explanation for who had altered the map he displayed in the White House. But he told reporters, “I know that Alabama was in the original forecast.”..

PARADISE LOST IN THE BAHAMAS..

The AFP:
“Anybody who can help me, this is Kendra Williams. I live in Heritage. We are under water; we are up in the ceiling.
"Can someone please assist us or send some help. Please.”
“Me and my six grandchildren and my son, we are in the ceiling.”
The text message was forwarded to AFP by Yasmin Rigby, a resident of Freeport. Authorities in the hurricane-hammered Bahamas said they were getting many such dire-sounding pleas for help.
“We’re getting a lot of frantic people calling in,” Don Cornish, the Grand Bahama disaster manager, told NPR.

AP:
Relief officials reported scenes of utter ruin Tuesday in parts of the Bahamas and rushed to deal with an unfolding humanitarian crisis in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, the most powerful storm on record ever to hit the islands. At least seven deaths were reported, with the full scope of the disaster still unknown.
The storm’s punishing winds and muddy brown floodwaters destroyed or severely damaged thousands of homes, crippled hospitals and trapped people in attics.
“It’s total devastation. It’s decimated. Apocalyptic,” said Lia Head-Rigby, who helps run a local hurricane relief organization and flew over the Bahamas’ hard-hit Abaco Islands. “It’s not rebuilding something that was there; we have to start again.”
She said her representative on Abaco told her that there were “a lot more dead” and that the bodies were being gathered. The prime minister also expected more deaths and predicted that rebuilding would require “a massive, coordinated effort.”

CBS NEWS:
“My grandson’s dead. I’d just seen my grandson about two days ago. My grandson just tell me he loves me,” said Ingrid McIntosh.
Much of the islands now resemble a wasteland. Homes torn inside out, cars destroyed, trees stripped and toppled, residential streets now rushing rivers. Tim Aylen filmed himself and his family Tuesday fleeing their Freeport home in dangerously rising waters, their dogs in tow, exhausted.
Major infrastructure has been rendered useless. The Grand Bahama International Airport, for example, is under water. That’s just one of the challenges rescuers face in the midst of such destruction. Labor Day horrors hitting the Bahamas and the East Coast with #Dorian .. the West Coast with a boat bursting into flames..
DEVELOPING..
Four bodies have been recovered near the 75-foot dive boat that caught fire off the coast of Southern California, a US Coast Guard spokesman said.
Lt Cmdr Matthew Kroll told AP the bodies recovered on Monday morning had injuries consistent with drowning.
Rescue crews are still searching for 29 people who were sleeping below deck on the vessel Conception when it burst into flames in the middle of the night while anchored 20 yards off of Platts Harbor on the north side of Santa Cruz Island.
Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a mayday call just before 3.30am local time Monday.
In chilling audio the person who made the call can be heard telling a dispatcher: ‘I can’t breathe.’
Crews from the Coast Guard, Santa Barbara Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department and Vessel Assist responded to the scene, along with multiple personal watercraft in the area.
