....the world went wild.
....CBS promised an investigation.
....the FCC fined...
....the world was aghast.

Years later we ponder if THAT was the worst thing that could have happened.

With a 12.7/21 in metered market ratings, the Recording Academy’s big hootenanny was also way down from the early numbers for the LA-based February 13, 2017 59th annual show. By way down, I mean a just over 20% decline from last year to what looks to be an all-time low for the ceremony.

Facing the midseason debut of The Walking Dead and even a bit more competition on the rest of the Big 4 than last night’s show, last year’s Adele dominated Grammys eventually claimed 26.05 million viewers and a 7.8 rating among adults 18-49 when the final numbers came in.

A Texas woman who called 911 on Saturday saying she was being stalked was shot and killed by a San Antonio police officer during a brief struggle in a home, authorities said. The unidentified woman, said to be in her 40s, also called police saying her computer was being interfered with, FOX29 San Antonio reported. I was informed by doctors that I could of easily died within minutes if the virus eventually cut more oxygen off to my organs. They also said the CDC predicted the wrong strain this year and that the flu shot is only 10% effective this flu season

It should be duly noted that I exhibited no flu-like symptoms and when asked how I felt I kept saying I felt like I was dying, like my body was shutting down, turns out it was so always trust your gut and go to ER especially during this deadly flu epidemic this year!

Dear David back for more





If you have some spare time and interest, check out a Twitter account run by Adam Ellis @moby_dickhead .. Humorous name.

Over the past several months, Ellis went from just a few followers to now almost 970,000 people writing a steady stream of updates about ‘Dear David.’

If you go back through the annals of @moby_dickhead, you’ll find a rather unassuming beginning where strange things were happening in his Manhattan apartment. From there, things get worse.. and worser. And worsest. To the point where he believes his humble abode is haunted with the spirit of David, a young child who seems to have a gigantic cranium indicating injury or sickness. The spirit, plagued with anger, is now causing consternation for Ellis.

The best part is how the ongoing story seems so brilliantly true!

Ellis gained notoriety when a few British rags picked up on the story — the story of Dear David traveled around the world in 60 seconds. From there, Ellis continued posting some mundane things on Instagram, and interacting with users on Twitter never indicating that he is giving us a great ongoing running horror story.

Brilliant way to write a novel. A novel approach to selling a story! Twitter with interactions and user input.

Recently, from December 2017 through January 2018, Ellis regained some interest with new Twitter posts about David standing overtop of him at night while he was sleeping–photos to accompany the story are posted in the Twitter threads on his corner of the social media world. Additionally, he said he traveled back home to Montana for Christmas to escape David. And then he found footprints in the snow.

….cue the music. David was there.

I follow ‘REIGNBOT’ on both Twitter and YouTube (You should really check her out if you are into the exploration of online mysteries and anomalies.). Reignbot posted a full 20 minute video on January 24 of her reading off all of Ellis’ latest posts on his Twitter page. It’s worth the time:



There is a steady stream of debate over whether Ellis is giving us great entertainment or factual knowledge of his haunting. Serious discussions in circles of the otherworldly exist pondering whether David really creeps around this Manhattan flat.. or if David is just a cunning way of instituting a new form of horror entertainment into our lives.

Either way.. a book deal? Why bother! Twitter is free! That’s too old school for dear David.

A movie? .. maybe more like it.

SLEEP ON THIS CONSPIRACY THEORY FOR A WHILE


You should sleep on this conspiracy theory for a while


A few days ago a REDDIT thread about conspiracy become social media bedlam! A poster said he/she believed that the company Mattress Film was a cover for a large-scale scandalous money laundering operation!

The comment got 41 thousand up votes quickly.. the theory spread on Twitter and other socials.. And then, only propelling the conspiracy theory into high revolution around the sun, the comment was SIMPLY DELETED.

Gone.

Speculation exists and to why.. a whodunnit of epic online proportions.

An interesting point that was brought out in discussion: In 2016 German based company Steinhoff acquired Mattress Firm (and Mattress Firm was already a big purchase since it acquired Sleepy’s in 2015.).

By December of 2017, the CEO of Steinhoff stepped down and Germany was investigating whether the company was in violation of that country’s commercial laws.

Now while that may not have a direct correlation with anything regarding impropriety, people questioned some other numbers

There are about 14000 McDonalds in America.
There are about 12000 Starbucks.
And…there are a little over 9,200 MATTRESS Store!

A product that only gets purchased, at the most, once a decade (sometimes once in a lifetime) …

It you would consider 300,000,000 Americans needing a bed, not bunking or sharing, then there would theoretically be 300,000,000 mattresses. You can do the math yourself, even Common Core style, to ascertain how true a profit a company having 9000 stores (often right next to each other!) have.

One Facebook post I saw while researching this said “there are 34 Mattress Firms in a 20 mile radius of my home. I am freaked out!”

The extent of conspiracy now ‘out there,’ here’s how serious it got. The CEO of Mattress Firm was forced to comment to the BUSINESS INSIDER yesterday about this topic. Ken Murphy said that the accusation of money laundering is ‘false’ and lacks merit, and that the company provides valuable products to customers and will continue to do so.



Luckily customers can choose between 9,200 stores for their product. And if they don’t like one store? Just walk across the street to the next nearest, I suppose…

The Detroit boom: A friend visits from a trip 28,000 miles per house



This is the AP news brief on the meteor and earthquake in Detroit January 16:


DETROIT (AP) — Experts say a bright light and what sounded like thunder in the sky above Michigan was a meteor.  The American Meteor Society says it received hundreds of reports of a fireball Tuesday night over the state, including many in the Detroit area. Reports also came in from several other states and Ontario, Canada.

Some Michigan residents reported their homes shaking.  The society says the reports suggest a space rock penetrated deep into the Earth’s atmosphere before it broke apart. The U.S. Geological Service says it registered as a 2.0 magnitude earthquake in Michigan.

 Bill Cooke with NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office tells The Detroit News it was “definitely a meteoroid” and a rare sight for Michigan.

Other states where people reported seeing a fireball included Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Missouri.


More information now being revealed.. CBS in Detroit reported that NASA said the meteor was from deep in space and traveling 28000 miles per hour.. the rock broke apart in the atmosphere and the loud noise was from that .. There may be space rocks on the ground near Detroit. Local reports indicate that the race is on for people to ind them intact!


Other reports indicate that panic among people set in with the loud noise and rumble. It was not until officials told people what it really was that people understood it was not a second coming of Christ.. a bomb.. a missile attack... Or the end of the world.


But With the strength of this meteor, we could count the nation lucky. A little bigger, faster, or stronger, and a Chelyabinsk part 2 could have occurred on a cold Saturday night in the Michigan city.


Let's hope that our loud visitor is not traveling with friends.

USGS confirms meteor occurred around 811pm, causing a magnitude 2.0 earthquake. The very bright fireball illuminated the sky over Michigan, US on January 16, 2018 and was followed by a sonic boom reported several miles away. The American Meteor Society (AMS) has received 356 witness reports from Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio as well as from Ontario in Canada.

50 people reported concurrent sound associated with the event and 114 delayed. Reports are still coming in..

A false warning of a missile threat in Hawaii sent White House aides scrambling Saturday, frantically phoning agencies to determine a response and triggering worries about their preparedness almost a year into the Trump administration.
President Donald Trump’s Cabinet has yet to test formal plans for how to respond to a domestic missile attack, according to a senior administration official. John Kelly, while serving as Secretary of Homeland Security through last July, planned to conduct the exercise. But he left his post to become White House chief of staff before it was conducted, and acting secretary Elaine Duke never carried it out.
The Old Cold War guard is gone. The newcomers can issue threats but appear to be unaware on how to act on them..
“The U.S. government hasn’t tested these plans in 30 years,” said the senior administration official involved in the White House response. “All the fresh faces sitting around the table in the situation room have little idea what their roles would be in this scenario. The bottom line is that without a principals level exercise we shouldn’t have any confidence that the Cabinet would know what to do in an attack scenario.”

CNN reports,

Jocelyn Azbell had just woken up in her Maui hotel Saturday when she was hurried into the hotel's basement to take shelter from an incoming ballistic missile.
"You're thinking, 'Oh my gosh, are we going to die? Is it really a missile (headed) our way, or is it just a test?'" the 24-year-old told CNN. "We really didn't know."
Minutes before, she'd received an ominous alert on her phone.
"BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."

Azbell, her boyfriend and hundreds of other hotel guests were "herded like cows" into the basement by staff. "People are crying and people obviously were super scared," she said.
For 20 minutes, Azbell said, they waited. Finally, they were told that the alert was a false alarm, and they were free to resume their day. Azbell said she was "super relieved."
"Hawaii is beautiful," she told CNN. "But it's not where I want to die."


Hawaii Emergency Management Agency Administrator Vern Miyagi said at a press conference with the governor Saturday afternoon that a single individual sent out the alert by mistake. The individual went so far as to click through a second message, intended as a safeguard, that asked whether the alert should go out.

But the blame should not fall on that man's shoulders alone, Miyagi said. "I accept responsibility for this," he said. "This is my team. We made a mistake. We are going to process this and study this to make sure this doesn’t happen again."

This could be a game changer–and quite the about face since the past several months of news gathered have reinforced the notion that no water at all existed..

As reported in the journal Science (paywall), the water was found in both the north and south of Mars, at latitudes equivalent to South America and Scotland. The exposed areas were found on scarps as steep as 55 degrees. Based on the absence of craters in the regions, scientists believe that the features formed relatively recently.


“The discovery reported today gives us surprising windows where we can see right into these thick underground sheets of ice,” study co-author Shane Byrne of the University of Arizona told NASA. “It’s like having one of those ant farms where you can see through the glass on the side to learn about what’s usually hidden beneath the ground.”
Researchers found the scarp sites by gauging colors using the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on the MRO, and confirmed its purity using CRISM (Compact Reconnaissance Imaging spectrometer for Mars). The orbiter has previously found extensive ice sheets at other locations on Mars using its Shallow Radar camera, but it was impossible to say how deep it was. Now, scientists know that it’s close enough to access with relative ease.
