The epicenter was in a rural area of the state.. The AP reports:
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit at 4:10 p.m.
It was centered 45 miles west of Tonopah, Nev., and followed by two smaller earthquakes recorded at magnitude 3.1 and magnitude 3.3.
