The CONJURING gets more praise.. from others and maybe soon from me.

We have all been victim to torture porn and horror gone bad for a decade now.. gruesome and pointless images of death, no heroes in our films.. just hopeless horror made to shock and awe with gore, instead of inspire with the story of the women or men who beat the odds and make it out alive at the end. For decades, the part of horror so many liked was that a hero emerged.. the last decade gave us few heroes, instead hoisting over our heads the burden of bleak endings..
Anyone who has read the HORROR REPORT since 2001 knows I have not at all been a fan of the typical modern horror film. AS a matter of fact, this website always sort of ...well..hated the current conception of the genre. I have disliked what Rob Zombie did to HALLOWEEN.. I have dislike the modern view of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.. I thought SAW was creative but sure wished they would have ended with just one..
Well..

The CONJURING is attempting to bring back another form of horror long gone. .the classic style.

Today the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS is writing a story about THE CONJURING in that sense.. The paper points out all of the horror movies that topped the box office this year.. they are praising the CONJURING for not being what we have seen for the past too many years..

I have high hopes for this film.
AS mentioned before, I am not at all in 'the mix' to receive advanced press copies of this film.. Sure wish I was though. The CONJURING may end up not being the best film ever.. but just as JEEPERS CREEPERS was in 2001, it could be the sleeper of this summer..

Time will tell.

The sweltering heat of the summer coupled with Friday night darkness in theaters.. will the CONJURING scare?

I think yes.
And for all the right reasons.
