A stroll along the Sunday morning Sidewalk

A SUNDAY MORNING SIDEWALK, Sunday November 10, 2013

A sampling of news from the world..

The horror in the Philippines is almost too much to grasp..10,000 dead from a storm? It could be that high, or higher. Yes, mother nature is cruel.. but we're told God is not. And if He's not, I urge someone to tell me why such events like this one happen..

The death toll from the superstorm in the Philippines could reach upwards of 10,000 people. There have been some who believe it may actually end up being even higher than that..
One witness described Haiyan of being like a tsunami..
The situation is dire, but with the conditions and lack of power, it will be some time before a true accounting of the devastation is actually known.

Haiyan is now on to Vietnam, where 6.5 million people are preparing and 170,000 soldiers have been drafted to reinforce homes ..
And another tropical threat is coming to the Philippines..

5.5 quake Tokyo..

The falling European satellite is still sending signals..

Shooting at Texas house party ends up with 2 dead and 22 injured..

San Juan County, Washington, declares itself in a State of Emergency in wake of communications failure..

Burglars pick the wrong house: They rob from woman who is an expert at throwing axes, and that's just what she does to fight back..

STAR WARS hopefuls by the hundreds audition for parts..

Miley Virus Cyrus planning 'no holds barred' 21st birthday party, including the inclusion of a 'sex dungeon'..

GIRLS star Adam Driver may be NIGHTWING in upcoming BATMAN VS SUPERMAN movie..

Hollywood Reporter laments Blockbuster: A eulogy for a three day rental..

People are mocking Blockbuster and what we, as movie watchers, used to do. I will tell you this, it wasn't that long ago ---up until about 4 years I was still renting at Blockbuster---that the store got me through many nights.. it was a shining gold light on top of a hill--quite literally for my store.. You felt like home in it.. I think people will one day miss movies this way. Same way I say we'll miss bookstores too..

More news later.. until then, enjoy your stroll down the Sunday morning Sidewalk..
