I woke up in the middle of the night.. craving water and a chocolate chip cookie. So I had to raid my son's drawer for that.. Before trying to cure insomnia with sugar, I checked the temperature gauge: 45 degrees. In August. The dog days that aren't...instead you best get one of those tacky sweater vests for your dog this week..

Watching the Gulf: A storm system may strike right near New Orleans or directly on it.. how strong will it get before hitting? It's in the western Caribbean now. From there a number of possibilities exist.. Henry Margusity wrote on his Facebook page today, "The danger with the system in the Gulf this weekend will be the sudden intensification within a few hundred miles of the coast."


Accuweather issues winter hints: Autumn 2013 will be a slow transition to cold for the Northeast but quick for the Midwest.. But if you make it through November in the Midwest, Accuweather says it all gets warm from there..
