More than 250 killed in the Philippines after flash flood

Hell on earth.
Typhoon Washi hits the Philippines ..
250 confirmed dead.
400 missing.
The death toll is sure to rise, according to officials, who are recovering from the blast from the typhoon.

When Washi swept in, it immediately caused drenching heavy rains, flash floods, mudslides, and power loss to thousands of homes. The hardest hit areas according to fresh reports from the Philippines were the cities of Illigan and Cagayan de Oro.

Reports from the Philippines also speak of harrowing rescues, villages washed in to the sea, and muddy ugly water rushing through streets, picking up with it any pieces of debris available to go for the ride.

The government mobilized 20,000 soldiers in the nation for relief operations. The port cities struck with the most hell will be seeing the most troops--the reports seem to suggest that those cities are practically decimated with water and wind damage.

Tropical systems are not stranger to the Philippines. The nation typically gets hit with up to 20 storms a year. However, this storm seemed to be hit with extra strength.  NASA saw the tropical system's winds and rains to be intense over a larger area.

Washi wasn't done yet. After it leaves the nation of the Philippines behind to deal with destruction, it's into the Sulu Sea where meteorologists say it will intensify again before it strikes Vietnam.

Fresh images of police brutality emerge from Egypt

Disturbing scenes in Egypt emerging tonight.. and now thanks to the UK DAILY MAIL, sick photos of police brutality are being published online and around the world in real time.

One image shows the police grabbing a girl by the hair; Another shows Egyptian authorities beating a protester in Cairo. Another has a woman in a burka being rampaged by cops.. bloody images.. ravaged faces.. torn up bodies. All courtesy of the Arab Spring and the military in the Mubarak-free new Egypt. Human rights groups say nothing has changed.. all the same. Everything the same.

The newly published images are adding fuel to the fire of protests already occurring in the nation; Twitter and Facebook alive with updates from inside the nation. Protesters speaking out in cyberspace... less bloody than the streets of  Cairo this day.

Looking forward to 2012 like a hole in the head

The presidential debates, early states voting, and political advertisements appearing on TV may have already left their mark: Months before the election next November, Americans are already sick of it all and dreading what is to come.

A new Gallup poll illustrates just how united the nation actually may be becoming: 70% can't wait for the whole election cycle to be over.

And even more in depth on it all: Democrats and Republicans can't wait for it to be over at about the same percentage.. more independents can't wait than even mainstream parties.

Men can't wait for it to be over.
Women can't wait for it to be over.

The young can't wait.. the old can't wait.

And who said America was a divided nation?  United we stand.

An update from Art Bell

Early this morning Art Bell wrote on his Facebook page about an explosion occurring in his radio room.. As the day unfolded, more details were unveiled by the former Coast to Coast AM host.

Bell wrote that the fire extinguisher in his radio room was the culprit.. expiring in 2004.

Art Bell has not responded to other users on Facebook asking for updates and photos, but he did wrote only a short time ago on the page, "Our house is a disaster."

Art Bell recently moved back to Pahrump, Nevada, after years of living in the Phillipines with his wife and younger daughter.

A former fixture of late night paranormal radio, Art Bell left Coast to Coast AM for good in 2010. Rumors have been rampant since that he was planning a return to radio in some form besides Ham. On his Facebook page, he published photos of a refurbished Pahrump home and new equipment in his radio room.

And now, according to Bell, his home and $50,000 + in radio equipment a wreck after the fire extinguisher explosion.

Merry Christmas: Mary is in the pink

A controversial new billboard is up just in time for Christmas.. The Auckland, New Zealand depicts Mary holding a pregnancy test--obviously positive.

It's controversial and it was put up by a church..
It's going to stay up until Christmas..

And it brings the thought to my mind: If there were pregnancy tests during Mary's time, I'm sure she would have been overly shocked to see the positive results.. indeed, it was either an angel or an alien... or a night out at a local manger that she forgot...

The acceleration of global climate change coming?

Scientists are concerned with a new discovery: Plumes of methane bubbling to the surface of the Arctic Ocean..

The methane gas plumes, hundreds in number, are massive in diameter. The unprecedented levels of gas being released could potentially dramatically increase the chances that climate change will occur quickly..

Art Bell's house has explosion in radio room

From Art’s Facebook page:

“There has been a explosion at our house tonight! Nobody hurt (I hope) it was a fire extinguisher, it just blew up (nobody in the room) but the house is beyond a mess. Inhaled a bunch of that stuff, like a white powder, not feeling so hot. Fire dept was here. More when I can. Good lord, we just remodeled. I think I got the most exposure but the girls got some as well. A fire extinguisher is supposed to save you not kill you! It was in my radio room with about 50K of radio gear that may be toast along with my lungs. It had been in the same spot for months, always at about 70 degrees, Fire guys said it was defective, lots of pictures, I will post in time, now VERY tired.”

Vlad speaks: McCain 'nuts'

Vladimir Putin, the man who may be the President (again) of Russia, called Senator John McCain 'nuts.'

McCain tweeted that the "Arab Spring" is "coming to a neighborhood near you." Vlad the Impaler responded to Mr. McCain's Twitter message with his own insult:
Mr McCain fought in Vietnam. I think that he has enough blood of peaceful citizens on his hands. It must be impossible for him to live without these disgusting scenes anymore.
Mr McCain was captured and they kept him not just in prison, but in a pit for several years. Anyone [in his place] would go nuts.
Low blow from the formerly old and now very young looking potentially botoxed Vlad.

Pootie Poot strikes.

And to think, George Bush looked into his soul...

Well, George didn't like McCain, either.

Amazing news may soon come from CERN

The search for the God particle coming to a close?
Have they closed in on Higgs?
Developing story coming from Switzerland.. it may be the gift of the year this Christmas for scientists who have long sought out the missing piece that governs how the building blocks of life even build..

The recent flurry of activity that news is coming from the Large Hadron Collider has not quieted with time. The announcement from those at CERN say there are few places left for the God particle to hide..

The Higgs boson is thought to be tied to a field that is responsible for giving all other particles their mass. The rest of the story is one of deep scientific terminology.. those who study in depth what the researchers are CERN are doing may even be hard pressed to explain the operation to the lay person.. but even the lay person would be able to understand the consequence of the God particle being found: It could start to answer some of the most important questions about the existence of this universe and how we became what we became.

The scientific explanations would precede the philosophical and ethical arguments that would most surely stem from a massive scientific announcement of the building blocks of life being isolated.

One message to the EarthInformer previously on CERN news went this way: "What if we find out that we are a part of some massive CERN and they created us to see if we can find out if we would ever realize we are a science experiment?"

Indeed, what if?
Science is all about what ifs. In the case of CERN, is may soon be 'what next?'

Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the states, not a flake was falling, not even on the lakes

The scene around the United States of America couldn't be more different than it is when compared to just one Christmas season ago. Last year, snow blanketed vast portions of the nation.. a storm before Christmas whitened the grounds in areas that didn't have white Christmas in years.

Fast forward, one year later, and 2011 is bone dry. Actually it's quite wet. But that wetness if green and not white.

A week before Christmas, and not only does most of the U.S. stand to have a wet Christmas with mud on the ground, but the temperatures are warm seemingly from coast to coast.

Detroit baking in the 50s with norms in the 30s.. New York City and Philly are high above freezing.. grounds saturated by flooding rains in the fall are just muddy. Christmas lights high above trees in towns with no scenic snow falling around it.

It could be a mood buster for some, but malls are happy. Not only are people shopping (a little) this year, but there is no need for giant bulldozers to clear parking lots.

Heatmiser, indeed, is in charge.
If not him, it's La Nina, the cooling of the Pacific Ocean and shifting of jet streams. What was true for winter in 2010-11 will not be true for 11-12. Instead, warm pools of muddy grass will be dominant ...

A mood-busting mean one indeed that this Heatmiser can be.

Gingrich locks in the cartoonist block

Iowa may end up not voting for Newt Gingrich--and America may grow to (re)disdain him after they hear him enough, but a voting block that supports him wholeheartedly: Political cartoonists.

They point out that he's a dream come true.. the easiest to draw since Nixon..  The big pudgy face, mean eyebrows, and large head of white bushy hair.. it's a cartoonist's paradise .. The actual face of Newt is already drawn for them.. in photos around Iowa and the nation, he looks like a giant bubble headed cartoon of a real person.. An inflated head. And inflated ego to match.

I can imagine some cartoonists of the Democratic persuasion may even switch parties in order to vote for their money maker for a potential 4 years--or at least one campaign season.

An active earth.. and active year

This video showcases earthquakes across the planet since January 1, 2011... back when birds were falling from the sky and the giant tsunami didn't happen yet. And now, almost a year later, this video illustraes how much shaking took place in 2011.

And it's obviously frightening to note.....2011 isn't over yet. Hopefully nothing major needs to be added to this video on YouTube before the end of the calendar year.

Crushed hopes in new BATMAN film?

Veering away from the world of reality for a bit this Monday evening, we here at EarthInformer are constantly amazed with the Christopher Nolan BATMAN films. Heath Ledger undoubtedly redefined what it means to be a villain in a Hollywood production in his two BAT flicks already released.
True to characters.
True to comics.
And true epics.

And with the box office numbers being as deplorable as they have been--the lowest levels since SEPTEMBER 2001 levels--they could use a big burst of fun and adrenaline. They could get it with the DARK KNIGHT RISES.

The movie will feature the whole gang from Gotham City, with a few new additions: Bane, the villain, and Catwoman the villainess.

But the newest poster revealed today teases audiences about a potential bleak ending to the film: A 'legend ends'. And a a Batman mask laying in ruins on the ground.

July 2012. Hollywood reborn. And Batman dies?
To be determined that month in a box office near you.

  • Jersey boom

This past weekend, New Jersey residents by the dozens began tweeting and posting on their Facebook pages that they felt an earthquake. Northeast residents now know how one feels, since the 5.8 August quake rattled nerves and buildings.

But after first hand reports on shaking began to fly online from Egg Harbor, Cranbury, East Brunswick, North Brunswick, Trenton, Somerset, Edison, Plainfield, Piscataway, Iselin, South Plainfield and other locations, the United States Geological Survey in Colorado said there was no quake.. no shake.. Instead, the USGS commented that the strange shaking could have been thunder or a sonic boom. The National Weather Service had no evidence of thunder.. Therefore the only conclusion that could be arrived at would by a sonic boom.. Perhaps from a distance, or a military jet.

Or maybe Snooki, somewhere on the Jersey shore dropping her purse.

Could these be the reasons for the Southeast chemtrails being reported?

The images of the aluminum being released into the atmosphere is causing radar reflections.. there was no rain over the SE yesterday but looking at radar, you wouldn't know it.

It was filled with greens and yellows..

There have been many other instances in which military chaff had to be explained during weather reports..

Even You Tube videos often show forecasters on local stations trying to explain why a sunny day turns milky white.. and why radar reflections occur even though nothing is falling.
