The future of movies.. the future of the world.

Geopolitical ramifications spread deep..
For years, we have been hearing about movie studios being victims of censorship and, for profit in other nations, imposing their own self-censorship procedures on their art.. For example, we know China has made demands of certain film companies to cut out scenes that may not be wise for the not-so-free citizenry of China to see. Those movie production companies happily buckled to the pressure in order to make quick profits..
And that is now paying off. Just today we hear news of this:  PACIFIC RIM has officially grossed more in China than it did in the United States, with $100.1 Mil in the "People's Republic' to the $98.4 mil in the supposedly free Republic of America..

Lately, we have also heard of other films making more money internationally than  in the United States. Just last week, the movie ELYSIUM got high  praise and the number one box office slot in North America--but the movie actually ended up being much bigger on a global scale than it was in the US of A.. Russia apparently also loved it..

This is the future. This is how box office profits will be made.
The world is quickly evolving--sometimes devolving. But it's an international market now, much more than purely domestic one. The audience is much bigger.
And with other nations using pressure on Hollywood to mold 'art' the way they want to see it, we will possibly not get the same types of films making big bucks in the future.

It's assumed that action will still work in summer, and horror in autumn.. the winter will be filled with  the rest..
But anything is subject to quick changes.
The numbers tell the story.
It's a small big world after all.
