Russian President Vladimir Putin has remained silent, amid growing speculation that a nuclear missile accident has caused a dangerous radiation leak at a naval base. The Kremlin have confirmed that a “rocket engine explosion” at the Archangelsk base in northern Russia killed five people and injured three.
Russia’s nuclear energy agency Rostam admitted that they had been involved in the aftermath of the incident, raising concern of a radiation leak.

The movie is a gory, R-rated political thriller that depicts liberal “elites” hunting people in red states for sport. Trump criticized the planned movie on Twitter Friday, without mentioning its name, saying it was intended “to inflame and cause chaos.”

But legend had it that in that place was a grail chalice, or two cruets rather, one of blood and one of sweat. But that led to there being talk that people had come to Rhode Island, and they were looking for something as well.”
It may have been the literal search for a while, but Cage came to a conclusion after also trekking through England. “What I ultimately found is: What is the Grail but Earth itself?” he said.

Bill Richardson, Britain’s Prince Andrew (whom she has accused before), wealthy financier Glenn Dubin, former senator George Mitchell, now-deceased MIT scientist Marvin Minsky, and modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, as well as “another prince,” a “foreign president,” a well-known prime minsiter" and the owner of a “large hotel chain” in France.
None of the men named in the deposition have been charged with a crime or even sued in civil court in connection with the Epstein case. The deposition represents accuser Giuffre’s allegations, and the court documents unsealed on Friday did not contain any corroboration or further details, though many documents remain sealed.

Robert D. Betts, the father of Connor D. Betts, was unaware that his son’s death was being used to discredit Sunday’s mass shooting when Newsweek contacted him by telephone on Monday.
“The names are just a coincidence,” Robert D. Betts told Newsweek. “He died five years ago in a construction accident. It’s unfortunate that people are linking my son’s death to the Ohio shooting.”
Robert D. Betts on Monday told Newsweek his son’s death was well documented by journalists in 2014.
Connor D. Betts was killed on February 19, 2014, in South Windsor, Connecticut, after being electrocuted when attempting to clean out snow from the dump truck he was driving, according to NBC Connecticut, who reported the story back in February 2014.
Witnesses at the time said when the open-box bed of the dump truck was raised to clean out the snow, the bed made contact with live wires and energized the vehicles.
“The driver [Connor D. Betts] had exited the vehicle and made contact with his energized truck and was stricken and went down,” South Windsor Police Lieutenant Scott Custer told NBC Connecticut in 2014.
Lloyd Folsom, Jr., 55, the owner of Folsom Construction, jumped out of his truck to help Connor D. Betts but was also electrocuted when he too touched the vehicle. Paramedics were unable to save either man. NBC Connecticut’s reporting matched what Robert D. Betts told Newsweek via telephone on Monday.

“For the first 24 hours we were just in shock,” Nova Spivack, found of Arch Mission Foundation, which seeks to create “a backup of planet Earth,” told Wired. “We sort of expected that it would be successful. We knew there were risks but we didn’t think the risks were that significant.”
The team knew the lander was toast. But subsequent analyses revealed that the lunar library likely survived the crash, meaning the tardigrades might have too. Tardigrades possess the rare ability to essentially stop their metabolism and enter a dormant, desiccated state. Although these tiny creatures only live for a few months, some have been put into a dormant state for 10 years and then were successfully revived. One was even revived after 30 years.

FaceApp released the following statement in response to the above-mentioned reports:
We are receiving a lot of inquiries regarding our privacy policy and therefore, would like to provide a few points that explain the basics:
1. FaceApp performs most of the photo processing in the cloud. We only upload a photo selected by a user for editing. We never transfer any other images from the phone to the cloud.
2. We might store an uploaded photo in the cloud. The main reason for that is performance and traffic: we want to make sure that the user doesn’t upload the photo repeatedly for every edit operation. Most images are deleted from our servers within 48 hours from the upload date.
3. We accept requests from users for removing all their data from our servers. Our support team is currently overloaded, but these requests have our priority. For the fastest processing, we recommend sending the requests from the FaceApp mobile app using “Settings->Support->Report a bug” with the word “privacy” in the subject line. We are working on the better UI for that.
4. All FaceApp features are available without logging in, and you can log in only from the settings screen. As a result, 99% of users don’t log in; therefore, we don’t have access to any data that could identify a person.
5. We don’t sell or share any user data with any third parties.
6. Even though the core R&D team is located in Russia, the user data is not transferred to Russia.
Additionally, we’d like to comment on one of the most common concerns: all pictures from the gallery are uploaded to our servers after a user grants access to the photos (for example, https://twitter.com/joshuanozzi/status/1150961777548701696). The Galileo network of satellites is Europe’s answer to the American GPS system, Russia’s Glonass, and the Chinese Beidou system, all of which are what enable devices like our phones to pinpoint our location.
So far there’s no reported sign of any kind of cyber attack on the Galileo system and the European GNSS Agency (GSA) is describing the issue as a “technical incident related to its ground infrastructure.”

The Washington Post on Friday asked how officials will deal with anyone showing up for the event. Air Force spokeswoman Laura McAndrews declined to elaborate on specific details of the military’s plans.However, she did issue a warning.
“[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces,” McAndrews said. “The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.”

Google has admitted it gives workers access to some audio recordings from its Google Home smart speakers.
The technology giant said it uses language experts around the world to study a small number of audio “snippets” from users.
Google said this work helps with developing voice recognition and other technology in its Google Assistant artificial intelligence system, which is used in its Google Home smart speakers and Android smartphones.
The assistant understands and responds to voice commands given to it, answering queries about the news and weather as well as being able to control other internet-connected devices around the home.
In a statement, the company said a small number of anonymous recordings were transcribed by its experts, and revealed that an investigation had been launched after some Dutch audio data had been leaked.

In an apparent act of mob justice, a man was beaten to death after he tried to steal a car with three children inside, Philadelphia police said.
Erik Hood, 54, drove off with the car while the children’s mother and father were in a store Thursday night, police said. The parents chased down the vehicle on foot and pulled the carjacker out of the car when he got caught in traffic, police said.Hood assaulted the father and fled, but a large crowd stopped Hood and beat him, police said. He was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital, police said.“I’m not a fan of street justice,” Philadelphia Police Capt. Jason Smith said at a press conference Friday. “I think everything should play out through us as it comes to criminal actions.”

The latest buzz about the Jeffrey Epstein child sex-trafficking case regards a temple-like structure on his private island — an island he calls “Little St. Jeff’s,” but one St. Thomas locals called “Pedophile Island” or “Orgy Island.” It is on this 72-acre island that Epstein allegedly ferried in young women on a boat named the “Lady Ghislaine.” Epstein’s friend and former partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, is a British socialite who has been accused of acting as Epstein’s madam.
There have been varying explanations for the blue-striped “temple.” While the Associated Press account of it was benign, INSIDER’s story about it turned up something that is potentially nefarious.
The AP, citing workers, said that the building may have functioned as a glorified and grandiose music room, complete with a grand piano and “acoustic walls.” It’s been said that Epstein is classically trained. But the INSIDER account is raising eyebrows because an engineer and contractor named James Both commented that the wooden door of the structure appeared to be designed to keep people in, rather than keeping people out.
That and a second structure or apparent door down the hill have given rise to the thought that, perhaps, the temple served a very different purpose.

Deputies: 57-Year-Old Texas Man Was 'Entirely Consumed By His Own Dogs'
A missing person investigation in Johnson County has ended with the revelation that a 57-year-old man was completely eaten by his dogs.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a trailer-home near Venus, Texas on May 6 to perform a welfare check. Once there relatives told officials a reclusive family member, Freddie Mack, hadn’t been seen or heard from since April 19.

The mystery of Emanuela Orlandi rocks the Vatican!
On Thursday the Vatican opened two 19th century graves in the cemetery to let forensic experts look for the remains of Emanuela Orlandi. She was the 15 year-old-daughter of a Vatican bank employee whose family lived inside Vatican City. Orlandi was last seen at a bus stop in central Rome after leaving a flute lesson on June 22, 1983.
Two tombs were opened; the “Tomb of the Angel,” of Princess Sophie von Hohenlohe who died in 1836, and the tomb of Princess Carlotta Federica of Mecklemburg, who died in 1840. Members of their families, Orlandi’s, and forensics scientists and Vatican police were all present as the tombs were unsealed.
In a statement released after just a couple hours of work, Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti said the operation had “produced negative results: no human findings or funerary urns were found” in either of the tombs – neither any remains appearing to belong to a teenager from the 1980s, nor any belonging to the 19th century princesses.

But the summer heat may be colder than we thought..

From the evidence of this summer, there’s a paralyzing lack of creativity accompanying a growing awareness that many of the blockbuster franchises that have defined the past decade or so are either officially done for or on the wane. No wonder audiences are looking elsewhere for their audiovisual enthusiasms.
As a lifelong film freak, as we were once called, and big-screen loyalist, I take no pleasure in saying this. A decent-enough Cannes this year sustained the notion that vibrant and ambitious films are still being made in various parts of the world, and we’re all aware that lots of the serious — and seriously entertaining — work being done now turns up on small rather than big screens. Still, the lack of imagination and daring displayed by what comes out of “Hollywood” feels both risk-averse and heavily corporate, at a time when the number of “major” studios is being whittled away. And other than for Disney, the idea that a film studio should have an identity is gone with the wind.
I am starting to realize that news repeats.. that information regurgitates. I recall tons of articles from the previous two decades of online world reporting where this very notion has been repeated. Over and over again.
Some movies suck..
Some imaginations are not creative.
But in the end, it’s the way it is..
And quite frankly in a world where movies were supposed to be dead, MARVEL sure had a great summer break…
So we have been there, done it, and bought the T-SHIRT. And sometimes see movies a second time, even in summers when we are told they are all awful.

That “included extended junkets around the world with Epstein and fellow passengers identified on manifests by their initials or first names, including ‘Tatiana,’” the outlet found.
“Jeffrey is both a highly successful financier and a committed philanthropist with a keen sense of global markets and an in-depth knowledge of twenty-first-century science,” Clinton told New York magazine though a spokesman for that same 2002 story. “I especially appreciated his insights and generosity during the recent trip to Africa to work on democratization, empowering the poor, citizen service, and combating HIV/AIDS.”

Brian Lada, a meteorologist and journalist for Accuweather in Pennsylvania tweeted out an image of a seismograph in Lancaster that picked up the earthquake over 2,000 miles away from the quake’s epicenter.

An 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California Thursday, shaking a widespread area.
The quake was centered in the Searles Valley, a remote area of San Bernardino.
A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 struck Kern County and was widely felt around Southern California on Thursday morning.
The temblor, which was downgraded to 6.4, was centered about 11 miles east northeast of Ridgecrest, about 109 miles north of San Bernardino and 121 miles northeast of Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The controversial ketogenic or “keto” diet may be the future of the military, some defense officials say.
Service members, and Navy SEALS especially, may have to forgo beer and burritos for skinny cocktails and avocado salad (forget the tortilla chips) if a proposal from Special Operations Command gains momentum.
While a nutritionally enhanced future could eventually be put into effect for all branches, the SEALS and other underwater dive-mission specialists might be the first groups targeted for the change in nutritional guidelines.
Lisa Sanders, the director of science and technology at U.S. Special Operations Command, presented an Ohio State University study that recommends the nutritional change based on the keto diet, which is high in fat and low in carbohydrates. The diet works to deprive the body of glucose needed for energy and forces it to burn stored fats instead. The study was conducted on the university’s Army ROTC cadet population.
