The video game industry is vast. Worldwide.. Dominant.. teenage boys stand in long lines any given week a new shoot 'em up disc of mayhem gets released. They "are" the game.. Aim. Fire.
But a new GUARDIAN article is taking a deep look into something that many people have known and others just suspected for years: The video game industry is quite tied in to the military.
No, I don't think DUCK HUNT or SUPER MARIO BROTHERS of 1980s fame can be lumped in with the game industry.. it has changed in the past few decades from the bubbly graphics and chime-laden music of the Nintendo cereal generation.
This new generation of gamers are being given a tool; violence with options, murder with reasons.. torture and blood for a purpose. The game is so realistic that teenage minds sometimes may think they are playing a game in reality itself.
As the GUARDIAN reports on, though, there are documents that reveal the shadowy ties between the makers of the game and the makers of the reality: the military.
So there they play.. the ultimate game may soon be the ultimate reality that is lived after the game age passes by..
