Getting to know you.. certainly nothing bad could come of this. Right?

It's interesting that whenever big brother type innovations get rolled out into the public, the first thing public relations efforts attempt to do is say that it will make you shopping experience all the brighter. The newest invention that makes some cringe and others just binge is this: Facedeals, a Facebook camera that gets to know you very well. It recognizes your face. And every time you walk into a store or bar, it will be nice and offer you discounts.

But what are you exchanging for this new piece of facial recognition technology?

Surely you're not worried over a tech world gone mad? Certainly the handlers of our nation states will never take advantage of technology like this!? ...Then again, just picture Der Fuehrer himself being armed equipment like this? If nothing else, it makes the IBM technology that Hitler had at the time look like stone-aged square wheels.

You need to authorize the app (for now, it's optional) and then verify your most recent face (until the future where it does it for you). Once you allow Facedeals to get to know you, you'll get the full reward of your newfound place in the technological police state: You will get gets on clothing and alcohol. Liquor may be quicker but the quickening sure is fast. And we're heading somewhere. It's hard to say who took over the controls of the bus on the information superhighway, but it's clear that the path being taken is not one we recognize.
