THE APPARITION: Maybe it all comes down to Facebook likes?

The APPARITION isn't getting the wide release this week that PREMIUM RUSH is.. and it is not getting the same theater count that other horror movies of past summers had, either. But it is getting lots of Facebook likes. Perhaps in the modern age of social networking, that matters more? Maybe it counts for at least something?

MOVIES WITH BUTTER reports that THE APPARITION has been adding about 5,000 likes per day on Facebook while its competitor has been only adding about 2,000.

In only a few days there will be evidence as to whether the marketing campaign for Lincoln's APPARITION has worked or failed.

As reported yesterday, THE APPARITION is only appearing in 810 theaters while HIT AND RUN is opening in 2,870 and PREMIUM RUSH is premiering in 2,255..
